A brief update on this thread. I finally got an update from TAG Heuer today on my Carrera which has been in for service since the beginning of January. I received a very apologetic call today to let me know that contrary to my instructions, the watch has received a polish.
🤦 Seems the watchmaker just did the usual service without bothering to check the job notes.
🤬
I'm not sure there's much I can do now, except learn a lesson not to use TAG Heuer for servicing again. On the one hand, this isn't really a vintage watch (yet) and a light polish (which I am assured it is) on a watch that was already in very condition is unlikely to impact the value much, if at all. On the other hand, it's hugely frustrating that my explicit instructions, which I had ensured were on the job sheet, were ignored.
TAG are offering me 50% off the cost of the service by means of compensation. I'm not sure what else I can do at this point given the damage is done. Would you guys call it quits or would you go on the offensive? Seems little to be gained from the latter.
