The first one was annoying but then I realised I couldn’t keep it pristine, so might as well enjoy it.

If only...

Just arrived. Not exactly the Ford vs Ferrari stopwatch but this one’s also quite delicious. Design and finishing a notch above the ‘60s and ‘70s stopwatches in my collection. Now I have to figure how to open the back.

I think so but haven't been able to open it. It has a hinge to unfold the caseback but won't budge so far.
From what I can find it's an early '50s 901. Old logo, a bit more classic numerals than the late '50s models and the prolongued blued steel hands. The '40s models with classical numerals are also very cool.

1 of my favourite Stopwatches is this 100 year old Mikrograph. From around 1920.
Still works great. 20200805_122822.jpg

Yes. The box and the outer cardboard. The box is in such good condition, I thought it might be from a newer model instead of the 3000. The box and cover are in great shape considering they're from the 1980's.

Do you have anything showing when the watch was originally purchased? The box looks like the early ones used by TAG to me, similar to the Heuer boxes of the '80s. I noticed that your instructions say Heuer, rather than TAG Heuer. The catch phrase "The Time for Action" was originated by Heuer circa early-mid '80s. So everything looks period correct for a watch made shortly after TAG's acquisition. Great find! 👍
