Android Wear 2.0 was announced today at Google I/O, which will be released this fall. No word yet on whether the current TH Connected will receive this update. Android Wear 2.0 will support 'Standalone apps' which is important news for iPhone users. Details after the jump:

Android Wear 2.0 has been pushed to "early 2017", so for 'stand-alone apps' directly on the watch we'll need to wait a bit more.

I won't hold my breath to receive the update on the 15th, but hopefully we'll see it in the near future.
EDIT: Other sites have confirmed the rollout dates will vary per manufacturer.

Google told WIRED Android Wear 2.0 will be available on the new LG watches from February 10 and the software is rolling out to other flagship Android smartwatches from other manufacturers "soon." The exact release dates depend on the individual manufacturers.

For existing Connected owners, the update to Android Wear 2.0 is coming "soon", but the exact date has not yet been announced.

I've just been on the phone to Tag Heuer customer service in the U.K. and they have told me that Android Wear 2.0 will be delayed until the first week of April.

Bit dissapointed since Fossil, Samsung have already got the update.

Anyone know what to expect from this update on the 46mm? Do we get all the watchfaces and options available on the 45mm?

Given what JCB said on the announcement of the new watch, I would expect the OG Connected to get the same watchfaces. I'd be surprised if it didn't.

But obviously, features that are tied to the "newly added sensors", like the built-in GPS which was not on the original watch, would not be the same.

I am fairly new to this watch. How du you check for updates? Settings -> about -> system updates?

In that case - no luck for me...

AW2.0 is fast on the old connected. But new watchfaces look not as good as on Modular 45.
