I'll say one thing for it, at least they didn't carry over those awful oblong subdial hands...
:( I like those!

This model is proving to be quite divisive!
It is, which I think is fine...the original was divisive too. I used to own the white Montreal that was photographed in my post- loved it, but it's a big, blocky case that just wouldn't work in 2020.

I'd rather that TAG Heuer take a few design chances (let's face it, the Silver 160th Carrera is not going to offend anyone) rather than try and please everyone.

That's fair. You're right the silver model is certainly not going to offend to anyone but it is a tad dull. I guess we have each end of the spectrum with these two models, so maybe there will be some infill models that are not as conservative as the silver dial but less garish than the Montreal dial.

What if TAG Heuer made this a 2 register sub-dial? Closer to the Heuer Montreal inspiration. ::book:: We know it can be done with the Viceroy Autavia Calibre Heuer 02. What do you guys think? ::confused2::

Yes, but not with the Montreal inspiration. I still want TH to make that Ford v Ferrari Matt Damon Carrera! :D

I still need to watch that film. No excuse now though as the Bluray arrived the other day.

Look at how slim and clear that looks! All 160th Anniversary reviews I've read subtracted points for how tall they are.

Isn’t the Carrera Telemeter very close to that Carrera Matt/Shelby is wearing? ::popcorn::

Can we have comparison pics of the Carrera Calibre18 Telemeter vs the Carrera Silver 160? Both are Carrera 39mm, glassbox, re-edition inspired. I like the perforated strap of the Telemeter vs the 160 strap TBH :p

Close, but no cigar.

Yeah, the height of the 160th is one of the negatives for me. They really need a manual wind H02 to make such a watch slimmer.

And the glass box doesn't help!

I believe the vintage Carrera (depending on which movement) is 12.5mm thick. I measure the new watch at 14.7mm thick. To me, that's not a huge difference.

Yes that would have been a nice touch. Breitling still uses them in heritage pieces like the capsule collection.

Really just made me want the Montreal 110.503W even more. In fact, it finally tipped me over to buying one I had been eying for a while.

But for some controversy and excitement you could report it as 12mm and 15mm and then say the new watch is 25% thicker!

How is that for some sensationalistic journalism? :)

To the flatliners: why not buy a Bulgari (6.9mm)

But here we need something substantial at our wrists, don't we?

14.7mm thick is fine for me. And please no “fatboy” comments :D:D
