how about now:
Different hands, different bezel, different indices, different helium escape valve shit, different crown guards, different bracelet, different clasp, different lume pip, different case, different lugs, different dial, different date cyclop, different crown.

But yes they are both blue divers with a date at 6.

Yup. All said before about the last one, many times, but falling on deaf ears.

All it needs to be is blue and a dive watch and it’s a Seamaster clone allegedly.

see the commentary above about about design elements, then go take a look at the history on Rob’s blog, with a handful of exceptions Aquaracers had a strong identity that traced back to the 2000, most of those elements were discarded for the 43mm.

Colour is irrelevant,I just happened to screenshot blue because it was top of the Google.

I must have missed this previously, sorry. Definitely similarities, although the Speedy is better executed and doesn’t have that weird bezel-under-glass thing. The Carrera bothers me less because the name has been stuck on pretty much anything over the years. Although I still regard the Biver era as a highlight 😁

Wasn’t looking for an apology btw @dtf as there’s no beef. I just couldn’t follow why you complain that the Aquaracer looks too much like a Seamaster, when the Carrera looks equally like a Speedmaster. My point being that the genre dictates this.

I think I now follow. What you’re really saying is that you don’t like, what is now two of, the latest iterations of the Aquaracer as they have lost the Aquaracer DNA.

I think this reason is more key than them looking like the Seamaster tbh.

I really like the older style bezels too btw, just for the record, plus can see your point better now.

I for one think the recent outgoing Aquaracer 300 & this current version, both follow Seamaster styling cues to an extend.

Date at 6.
Wave dial
Non circular bezel
Sword hands.
Teak dial was very Aqua Terra.
Both original divers which don’t follow the Rolex Sub variations.

Don’t get me wrong, there are certainly similarities but pick any two dive watches and tell me the same doesn’t apply.

For example, how many divers are there with the date at 6 and sword hands?

Would you say the Seamaster has a truly non round bezel? I mean it’s round aside from some shaved knurls for grip. Aquaracer has proper solid lines and not the same at all.

The dial in the new aquaracers reminds me more of a grand seiko than anything omega and I never hear whispers that grand seiko copy omega wave dial.i think it's more narrative than similarities because all div e watches share some of the same design language.

We’re back to Theo & Harris, where Rolex crushes Breitling, who crushes Tudor, who crushes TAG Heuer who crushes Rolex…

This is exactly it, I love Aquaracers (owning ~4) and feel like TH have given up on what makes an AR distinctive and turned it into a generic dive watch, with a few styling cues borrowed from omega.

Maybe it’s accidental, maybe it’s their attempt at pushing the brand into the next price category, but it they’ve lost the differentiation.

Looking at the photo of the blue vs blue again, I see what you mean. What I thought was a multi-sided bezel is a round bezel with grip scallops? Unlike the AR which is definitely a 12 sided bezel.

Yes, owning both, I can confirm this is exactly what the Seamaster has. So much so that the Seamaster one is harder to turn than the Aquaracer or my Tudor FXD for that matter. Style over substance in that respect unfortunately.
