Yes, what are they thinking with the Aquaracer. Everyone knows all dove watches should look like a Submariner.

This is my issue with the 300m AR, throwing away most of the 2000/Aquaracer unique design elements.

Sure there have been aquaracers over the years without the bezel grips and with round markers (WAB), and there have been aquaracers with the date at not-3 (500m 3-hands, calibre 72, alarm), but the 2000/Aquaracer dna has been visible in the vast majority of models over the last 20 years, until the WBP.

Aquaracer can mean whatever you want it to mean.

with the exception of the WAB that I mentioned above, they all feature grip lugs on the bezel and baton hour markers….

But the WAB is the ORIGINAL, so you're right, all dive watches should look like Submariners

Yeah. It's a curious one that one. When I bought it I kinda thought of it as my 'Black Bay' alternative funnily enough. I wonder why they changed the design so quickly? Maybe it wasn't avant garde enough?

Also interesting that they kept that bezel for the Calibre S models.

I gotta say, when they launched the new style Aquaracers I missed the grips on the bezel, and I think they missed an opportunity to say they borrowed the flat 12 sided bezel from the 3000, I mean 'heritage', right? But now they put the grips back on the 34mm Solargraph ladies models and they look dreadful. Not because grips look dreadful per se, but because they are an awful shape and look cheap and crappy.

Also, the 40mm Aquaracers do have the baton markers, which is one reason I bought the 40mm green and not the 43mm Night Diver

All this adds up to lazy design from TH and a shitty seamaster pastiche.

The new one is a love child of the vibe two

Personally have no affiliation to the history of TH or Aquaracers & for me I see no issue of lumping all dive watches under the ‘Aquaracer’ identity. Helps streamline the SKUs I guess.
Plus we know how this Swiss marketing/ history is.

Yet to view the new ones hand on yet, but I do very much like the images I’ve seen. Potentially for me the best of the lineup. Apart from the WAN2110 which I think is a very close 2nd and best Aquaracer.

Thanks, I was trying to remember which that was. I saw one in a store in Rome airport a few years ago (was very old stock by that point) and it looked great, nicely brought the classic vibe while still screaming Aquaracer. IMO much better executed than the tribute to 844.

Been close to buying one a few times, especially when they were below £1k 2nd hand. Now have jump up abit. But would need a service/ polish.

My grip is date at 3. Calibre5 and the issues attached.

Always wanted one as a cheaper auto beater from my BB58. Felt the WAN2110 was a great neo-vintage classic.

It’s useful to have a beater, somehow my calibre 5 WAY is still chugging, although the winding action is like trying to pull start an ancient chainsaw.

(Not posed. Took photo after I realised I forgot to take my watch off while wresting the high/low linkage)

Okay, then going forward these will all be classed as Carreras. Cos that's what you just said was fine.

As long as they’re not Monacos I’m fine with that
