This seems like something from a William Gibson novel
Yes. But it's reality. Current marketcap of the most important cryptocurrencies is about 2T (gold has a marketcap of 11T). It's crazy.

Amazing that something like this can be allowed to exist, what's the betting that at some point one of these will crash and cause a lot of financial damage which 'normal' people will end up paying for. Still as long as there's a readily accessible way for people to pay for drugs and weapons...

No, these are prejudice. Much more crime is done with fiat money (Dollars). Transactions on the blockchain are much more transparent than old money.
Gold was forbidden in the USA in the last century and now the same is looming for cryptocurrencies. Crash of the Dollar could come as well.

I prefer to behold physical beauty in front of my very real eyes. US$18k was the selling price for this "piece of art" that resides in your head only. I am sooo old school...
Absolute toilet.

I guess Remo was on to something after all 🙄

For the first time ever, insanely expensive digital cartoons can be shown on a smart watch 👍

So here's a thing about NFTs, a friend of mine is into trainers and he is on this site called Stock X. Now apparently, Stock X made NFTs of Nike trainers and then sold them. I can't believe they sold them, but my friend showed me that they sold them and they've been resold and are increasing in value. So Nike weren't very happy about this since obviously they own the rights to the image of their own trainers, right?
Well, Stock X's answer to this was, no because this NFT is specific to this pair of trainers we have in this box here. Which is like saying I have an NFT for each of the 10,000 Kimi Raikkonnen F1s they made.... so even more completely pointless than originally thought (and ultimately worthless I should think).

Right now everything Crypto is in bearmarket. It's a bloodbath. Investors are taking out money of risky assets.
But I think there is a good chance that this will change again.
There are many projects that are connecting NFTs with reallife utility. Here is one example: https://medium.com/@koalop/briefing-with-welly-5cfd46878802
