I keep telling myself, enough of grey or white dial watches (for myself, of course)...but this Monaco is cool !

It grew on me..."luckly" i will never had the chance. So i am safe...

Cheers for Tag Heuer, which personally i think, managed these releases so far so good.

Like 'em all so far.
Tell me about it! I went from the Cal.11 Monaco Vintage Grey LE (which I no longer own), to the Cal.12 Gulf Grey Monaco LE and now (hopefully, fingers crossed, knocks on wood) this GameBoy 90's Monaco. But I have my share of blue watches and black dials as well. LOL

Very nice! Which one is your favorite?

Side by side they are very different. The grey/blue becomes very understated and the red is super eye-catching. If you put a gun to my head I’d probably take the red however I still love the grey and I find myself looking into it’s details more.

I would also say that the two together exposes the red dial as having a plain band. Too plain in my opinion. I found myself wondering what Monaco I could order a replacement strap for that would have red stitching or something to make it pop a bit more. Don’t get me wrong though - it’s a very minor complaint and takes nothing away from the ruby red dial.

You could look at FC6237 which comes as standard on the DLC Calibre 1887. Red stitching with a red lining. CAR2A80 is a 43mm Carrera so 22m lug width which matches the Monaco.

Picking these bad boys up together today. They make a nice pair I think....

Very nice Mr Tavknack,

Your AD got their hands on the blue very quickly after it was released. I went into The Ginza boutique today before I fly out this evening just to check they didn’t have one. No luck unfortunately. I did however bribe the sales guy with a nice bottle of Savingon Blanc from NZ and made him promise to keep one of the 5th Dark ones for me.
Interesting enough , they do think that the launch of the 4th version might be done in Japan in September.

In any case, a nice pair of watches Tavknack.
Enjoy whichever one you choose to keep.

IDK, the Monaco 50 is a special watch. If I were lucky enough to own the Red one, I'd keep the strap "as is" to leave it all original. On my other watches, I'm a strap freak and change them all the time. But wouldn't on the 50th, although I do agree that the strap is the weak link on the '80s model.

I would have to politely disagree.
I like the strap of the red version and think if you start putting red stitching on the strap you may end up with some over the top Bling Bling look.
There is enough colour in the dial without adding anymore I would say.
Just my humble opinion

I think the single color on the outside with the red inside is the way to go. I'm just a bit disappointed on the leather quality that we got on this LE.

In what way? Does it feel cheaper or less durable or?

The reference is to the "cotés de Genève".

Ah, okay, the only picture I could find was pretty terrible, couldn't see any cotes de Geneve on it to be honest!

Hmmm, the TH Ginza boutique thinks the 4th launch is in Japan this Sept? The F1 race isn't until Oct, so I wonder what the event might be? Thus far, all launches have been at race events, and different types of racing.

It just so happens I may need to be in Tokyo for business sometime in Sept, so I will need to keep a watchful eye once the '00s Monaco countdown starts.

You might well be right - If I get a chance to try something though I’ll take photos and share!

Yes, we did discuss that it is not at the time of the F1 but they didn’t seem to know what it was in conjunction with.
The only thing I know that is happening in Japan around that time is the Rugby World Cup but that has Tudor as the tournament sponsor. I’ll let you know if I hear anything.

Don't think that will fit. The end of the strap is curved to fit the Carrera case IIRC.

True, but I have a feeling it would go and being leather would give with time. I couldn't think of any other OEM straps that wre black with a red stitch with the correct lug size. There would be aftermarket options though, including custom.
