Somebody else made a comment before about it looking like a first gen original gameboy and that sold me entirely.

OK, so now I think I really got one!!!!

I was staring at pictures of the watch and the lust factor started to grow and grow. I went back to my exclusive offer email and clicked the link. To my disbelief, "out of stock" had changed to "add to cart". So I did and pulled the trigger. I hope it wasn't just a web glitch, but I got a confirmation email from TAG Heuer, fingers crossed!!!

I think it has the most racing inspired look of all the 5. I have very fond memories of the '90s, thus this is the Monaco 50 for me. 馃榿

This picture is the one that really made me fall hard for version 3.

馃榾 So my congratulations was just a matter of timing! 馃槈

Great! I'm glad to have tipped you over to pull the trigger. Believe me I tried from my end, but no such luck.

Lady Grey isn't bad. Or Earl Grey. Or, The Game Boy!

They're all going to look great and be highly sought after. I think the 2010 edition is going to be really special too.
The Game Boy! That's perfect! LOL

It's actually the official description:
Interesting. Was there a similar written description of the design theory behind the 70's and 80's editions?

The dial does remind me of racing asphalt, similar to the strap of the current Gulf F1. The other thing I really like about the design is the color scheme reminds me of Martini Racing.

Good job! that picture really does sell it. The silvery textured effect dial looks great. I think the 90's edition has the most complete look so far. The strap and dial go perfectly together. The 80's black strap was a little lazy, as everything goes with black. The 70's strap looks good on its own, but doesn't match the dial at all IMO. I think the 90's edition will easily appeal to wide range of buyers.
Thanks man, I agree with your assessment of the 90's edition. 馃榾

A Martini LE would be amazing!

It would certainly look cool, but I think a real "Martini Racing" Monaco LE would be an odd pairing. Porsche could have either a Martini or Gulf Porsche Design watch, as the famous 917 carried both liveries. But for the Monaco, it can only be Gulf - IMHO. LOL

I like this IG post from @watchonista. Anybody know what the background is? If it's some kind of official TAG Heuer merchandise, it goes very nicely with the watch, and I might have to buy it too. 馃槈

I am no fan of the idea of a relaunch of round pushers (which seems to be one of the core critics concerning the anniversary watches). Even if the early Monaco is an iconic watch, that doesn't mean it was perfect. In my view the round pushers were a mistake (and would be today) in several regards: They don't match the square design, and they are not aligned with the case. Because of this they are prone to catch dirt and twine, and to damage. This would absolutely stand in contradiction to the slogan (don't crack under pressure), and there would be additional service cost under guarantee for TAG Heuer. This would have to be revolved on the RRP. Not a good balance in the end.

But they look cooler and more retro. And that's what matters in a Monaco (imo of course).
