Way too close in color to remember properly (it was also super early in the morning). If I had to guess though I think it had a black strap so the standard I suppose.

I almost drooled on a NOS 1163 Siffert I held in my hands a couple of weeks ago. But I also realized the minute you make the slightest of marks on it, it will lose a lot of its financial value. Where’s the soul of such a watch? The greatest joy comes from wearing beaters that have never been restored/polished. The scuffs and dents tell a story.
I'd quite like to buy a mint siffert and yhen just wear it..... maybe i will one day

Black strap version is the 50 LE (Pictured here)
Blue strap is the one still available at most ADs

And for what it's worth, I wear all my watches. Couldn't stand taking them out of the safe and just looking at them.
In saying that, I'm pretty careful to look after the special ones.

But the blue strap often appears black at quick glance in the store. I cant imagine that they would have one of the 50 limited ones unsold brand new...

Due to the similarities, I think the small run of 50 pieces was warranted. That one has a black strap, whereas the regular Gulf is blue.

Of course, it's not just watches, people collect Lego and as soon as you break the seal on the box it loses money. How stupid is that? You don't even know for sure if the right kit is in the box, or if you've got all the parts!

As an AFOL, this amazes me. When I buy Lego, I want to open it and build it, not stare at the box, gathering dust on the shelf.

I'm definitely in the "wear it" camp. I did have four NOS Heuers from the 1970s, but quickly realised that they were no good just sitting in the safe. Part of the reason that I sold my vintage collection was the worry about damaging something that was now worth a fair bit.

I wear all of mine too. It's the reason I buy them and that would apply to a $50 quartz watch or a $50,000 ALS or JLC.

It seems this moronic behaviour extends into all sorts of areas...

I had to look up what AFOL meant. I didn't realise that was a thing!

I haven't Googled it, but I'd guess it A Friend of Lego.
Which is completely different to being A Friend of Dorothy.

the one that was announced in the forum is already reserved and now there is another one in Chrono24, curious that the few that have gone on sale come from the UK market, it will be a country where more pieces will have arrived

Curious I googled it to..

Then looked down one and found it.
Who knew such a thing existed.
Go on...google it... you know you want to 🙄

Love the wall clock and winder. How did you acquire those?

Thanks- Wall clock was a good find off Ebay and the winder of which I have matching watch boxes was a find from a trade show in Hong Kong.
A Chinese supplier but one who makes quality stuff for the world market. They supply trade but I got this as a one off at the end of the Fair.
