A teaser for the interview with JC Biver coming this weekend...one of the topics that we spoke about was an update on TAG Heuer’s movement plans, and he did confirm that they are looking at adding another production Calibre.

Any guesses? ::stirthepot::

My guess is a thinner movement, or maybe a GMT? I feel silly writing this because it feels obvious!

Welp. Just read that whole thread, Hubert. I think you're right (12-18 months after Zenith gets the Defy).

Yes on the Heuer-03...but there is another 😉

Will be a good weekend! Going to experience some Glashütte Original watches AND a new interview with JCB published 😎 new movement sounds promising, if I get to wish for something I wish that they could introduce their own thin replacement for the Sellita sw200, with more modern specs enabling to conpete with e.g. offerings from Tudor and Breitling.

Still don't understand the fascination with in house movements, more expensive to service, less tested/proven, more expensive to buy...

Is it just to help me justify why the 3k bracelet on my wrist is 3k better than a timex?

My fascination is not with it being in house per se, more that a modern watch 2018 should have a power reserve of 70-100 hours, not 38 hours. If Sellita sw200 could be upgraded to modern standards that would be fine as well.

Another problem with Tag also is that when they use third party movements they almost always go for the cheapest base model, a lot of times looking like shit behind a display caseback 😀 so currently it seems that if we want better specs in a Tag watch it has to be in-house.

I don't understand why they stopped using the Calibre S anyway, it's magnificent!

Amen to that brother! Would love to see Tag step up their quartz game. A serious HAQ movement as well as a new Calibre S would be awesome!

Honestly I'd quite happily have a Eta/Selitta movement with a solid caseback for less money. Although JCB seems to have changed his tune about in house movements being 'stupid', but I guess the horse has left the stable now.

The problem with movements is that you rather have to decide on a diameter, and given the current size of the watches it's unlikely to be smaller than what's already about... no matter what the vintage crowd would have us believe - I don't believe fashion is going the other way to the extent they'd like to think. 45mm may be over, but I'm sure 42/43mm is going to be the new normal for quite some time to come.

Since there is already a Heuer02 GMT, it would have to be a different one.

Wasn't TH in development of a 3 hand movement along side the 1969?

They have to do a 3 hand movement to take the Aquaracer to another level

There is also the possibility of an in house movement for the Monaco. A two register chronograph would fit the DNA perfectly. Although that would probably be a modified Heuer 02

If Heuer 03 is the DefyLab, then It might be the El Primero 21, called Heuer 04, plugged into a Monaco Case for the 50th Birthday? 😎😎😎

A GMT already exists on the H02 plaform.

My guesses:

1) a flyback complication/2 register chrono to replace the Calibre 36/17/11/12. The flyback is really a complication rather than a whole new movement but if the H02 wasn't designed to have a flyback complication incorporated then it would be a new mvement;
2) an evolution of the Calibre 360;
3) a 3-hander to replace the ETA/Sellita Calibre 5/6/7.
