Back in 2018 (5 years ago) on the 55th Anniversary of the TAG Heuer Carrera book “Ahead of its Time”, the TAG Heuer Carrera Connected took the spotlight :thumbsup:

I’m not sure, but I think the decision now is to remove the name Carrera in the TAG Heuer Connected timepieces since it doesn’t mention Carrera anymore in the TAG Heuer website ;)

Yes, E1 and E2 Modular, first and second generations of the TAG Heuer Connected (launched during JC Biver management) were considered part of the Carrera family, with case, lugs, buckle, and strap design directly taken from the new 2015 Carrera 45mm shape (Heuer 01, and later Heuer 02, and H02 Tourbillon)… is maybe because E3 and E4 are made in China -and not Swiss Made anymore like E2 Modular- that E3 and E4 lost the Carrera “status”?

At least E1 and E2 Modular (with its Carrera mechanical modules Calibre 5, Calibre 16, and Calibre Heuer 02 T) deserve to be in this book as they were in the official 2018 TAG Heuer Carrera book “Ahead of its Time”. This is from the Jean-Claude Biver interview in that 2018 book:

Only a complete idiot would compile a list of every single Carrera, including all the ladies 28mm MOP dials.
Let me guess, you've got all the ladies MOPs ready in your blog post. :rolleyes: (joking) :p

While I certainly don't need to see similar versions pictured over & over, it would be nice to know they exist. I wouldn't have minded if the Ultimate Record included notations (if not pictures) of the various similar versions, then it would've indeed been a "catalogue raisonne".

I would have settled for photos of every watch head (including each MOP and diamonds variation) and then a list of straps and bracelets it was sold on (with part numbers)

This is why in TAG Heuer's dictionary, the word Carrera means 'anything' or 'a watch'. It is impossible to define what a Carrera is because it has been and will continue to be any kind of watch. Bit of a shame really.

Or really just means 'we wanted this monstrosity to sell, so we used a hallowed name and maybe shaped the lugs like the original, or maybe not'

It is true. I mentioned before that I needed to understand what the Carrera truly is, and go back to its original core design. The main reason why I fell in love with the Heuer/TAG Heuer Carrera Glassbox Heritage editions. Somehow Carrera was the “Avant-Garde” watch and was the tabularasa of TH’s new innovation and watch movement. Somehow it diverge astray and really lost its identity (apart from the carrera lugs) :unsure:

I think TAG Heuer is trying to rectify this (again) with the newer Glassbox Carreras which received applause and good praise over all from the watch community :thumbsup:
