They don’t seem to align ‘perfectly’ with the case and the protruding nature of their design make them look as it they could be (more) at risk of sheering than might otherwise be the case.
Is this a featurenof the modern Autavia case / 02 movement? I’ve just check all my other chronos and none exhibit that either TH or Omega.
I’m not sure it is a real issue or just a teick of the light in the photos.

It also raises an interating point. We see debate around design integrity (faithful to original vs modernisation) on the forum and we all have different views of ideal size, the detailing and colours etc.
But I did a little inflation calculation for my own curiosity. And the rrp $200 quoted in 1972 for the original Viceroy would be around $1,200 in today’s money. Yet the price of this re-edition is $5,800 is almost 5 greater than inflation would suggest. (Ignoring compleities such as different economies of scale and level of technology used)
Whilst the cost of many luxury goods and even necesites (e.g housing) have risen far in execss of that ‘average’ 500% inflation of the purchasing power $200 to the notional $1,200. Earnings on average have not kept pace with the inflation of the re-issue example.
This ‘revelation’ is probably nothing new to seasoned watch and especially vintage watch enthusiasts - but as i’d not thought of this point until now - that the ‘cheap’ tool watches of yesteryear are now repackaged as luxury items (and I’m not talking about how the price of a Rolex Submariner has gone through the roof),
Not exactly sure what my point is other than maybe this helps explains expecation and the various criticisms.

Well part of this is that the continued existence of the Swiss mechanical watch industry depends on their having repositioned themselves as luxury items after the quartz crisis took most of the smaller marques out. Nobody needs a mechanical watch these days, since everything from your phone to your toaster can tell you the time more precisely without losing or gaining time - so, instead the mechanical watch is a durable luxury, something that you form a relationship with like a car - you take care of it, and eventually you can pass it down as an heirloom.
Also worth noting is that the reason for the Viceroy promotion (which sold for $88 plus proof of purchase of a carton or two of cigarettes) is that when they were introduced the $200 Chronomatic models were too expensive and not as flashy as the then-brand-new quartz watches, and thus sold poorly 😁

That’s interesting. I’ve recently ‘caught up’ on the general history of the quartz crisis, but had not realised that it had started that far back. I was not even born when the Viceroy came out. 😜
My first Tag was a quartz Kirium. I only recently discovered that the 2nd one I bought was a mechanical. I’d always asumed it was a quartz
