If it was me, I wouldn't let it drop until I was fully compensated. Taking them to small claims court if necessary!

I agree 100%.

You brought the watch to them as a trusted AD to return to TAG Heuer. They lost it. You didn't buy it from them in the first place so a store credit is not a suitable method of compensation. A full refund including the costs of FX, shipping, etc is all I would be accepting.

Let them have it with both barrels.

@abrod520 I'm happy to try and help if you would like with TAG Heuer USA. I have no idea if that will get a better outcome, but if you want an extra push let me know.

I've already spoken to TAG, who effectively washed their hands of it as the package was marked as delivered back to the Tourneau, which is when it was "lost". But I do appreciate the help if you think you may have more pull with them 😀

It's absolutely true but it's such a hassle to do, and I'll bet Tourneau's terms of service have some clause protecting them from suit anyway

Have you also looked into whether your insurance covers the loss? And have you considered involving the police since this is likely to be a theft? Even if it's unlikely to get a result, it might make Tourneau think twice about compensating you properly if they know they have a police investigation pending.

It wasn't yet insured, and because I sent it through Tourneau, I didn't insure the package myself. As for involving the police, unfortunately theft is a major pastime here in San Francisco and the police can't be bothered with such things. At this point I'm content with waiting until something Tourneau stocks does appeal to me, and then never doing business with them again

I hate it. Did I mention it's the most expensive place to live in the US?

I think I saw a video named something like "why San fransisco is a shithole" but I thought they were exaggerating 😁

Is Tourneau a big place? Would they immediately know who you are if you walked in? The voucher is only valid in one store? I would maybe try to negotiate down on a watch I wanted and only then pull out the voucher.

They are not exaggerating. It feels like I'm back in 1989 instead of 2019.

Yeah, that's about my idea. We'll see how it goes

Do you live in the city?

Most likely it would limit their costs to the original list price, not the flippers price, at any rate.

Still though, market value is market value. What if I didn't know any better and brought a vintage Heuer to them for service, say my 2447N Carrera. If they "lost" that, would I only be offered $95?

Fair point!

If they had lost that one, you'd be out for blood!

Did you not have insured personally and could claim over that? Or get the insurance co to jump in on your behalf? Or try “Scottish negotiating”, pan the shop windows in till they give you a cheque of the correct value.😗

Bumping this thread 👍 Almost a year ago from the last post! I was quite envious of sir @Hubert ’s Viceroy Autavia post and wondered if we ever answered the question how many of these really came out in the US market? It was initially an LE of 150 pcs but became a Special Edition of how many pcs 😕 It seems not easy to find one either..

I appreciate all your response as always! Any others who plunged into getting the Viceroy Autavia Calibre Heuer 02 other than sir @Huber ? 😉

Just following up on this- no idea! As soon as it becomes a "special edition", it's impossible to say if they made 151 or 1051.

If I had to guess I would say less than 500.

Thanks sir DC @Calibre11 👍 Appreciate it sir! It’s pretty hard to find one of these Viceroy Autavia Re-editions actually since they were only release for the TH North American market (I think) I would assume the vintage guys grabbed one of these and taking a hold into it 😉

It’s easier to find vintage Heuer Viceroy Autavias since they were made a plenty and spanned more than a decade of production. The vintage aura very much appeals to me but the thought of acquiring one and having a vintage watch serviced is very daunting & difficult from where I come from.

So I find this Viceroy Autavia Re-edition suitable with all the modern packaging and also have great ownership experiences with my Rindt, JH85 and Siffert Autavias 😉 Since the latest TH Autavia (adventure) have a new design and direction, I’m simply enamored with the Heuer Heritage Autavias taking a hail from the Golden Age of Heuer with an abundance of motorsport history! 🥰
