So I haven't seen a Bond film since Golden Eye, but I just read that he died in the last one. Then I read the next movie will see a 'complete reinvention of Bond'.... I do not see this going well. How long until we see a complete reboot of the franchise with James Bond alive and kicking again when they realise they need him to keep the cash coming in?
Craig's movies were a total reboot and a reinvention in a sense already.

Previous to Craig, all of the actors were basically playing the same character within the original Bond universe that Connery started. However, the Craig movies hit the reset button. In the opening pre-title sequence of Casino Royale (his first movie) he's not even a double 0 yet. His movies are also all interconnected, like a 5 movie continuation with the last movie closing things off very nicely IMHO. Albeit some fans were upset that he died, but I like tragic heroes.

Now the producers will need to start fresh once again with another type of reboot. One of the popular theories is that they'll make it a period piece, taking place in the '50s or '60s as in Ian Fleming's novels.

Congrats @Hubert! I recall seeing the Commander NATO strap holding a spot for this watch in your watch box, glad you finally got one! 馃憤
Looking forward to the pics! 馃榾
Got the watch! The colors in the NATO are a bit subdued, but my other homage strap really makes it pop.

Oh wait, that's not the same NATO strap? Interesting, I thought the strap sold separately was the same as the one that comes with the watch.

The one I put on is an homage strap, which has more vibrant colors than the one that comes with the watch. I will swap it from time to time.

By homage strap do you mean it's not made by Omega? I kind of like the subdued look of the OEM strap that comes with it.

Correct. The original NATO blue has a vintage look. It's fine, but it doesn't pop as much. I'm just nitpicking here.

You don't actually see him die though. Although nobody could realistically survive a missile strike, he seems to have an uncanny knack of coming through these situations 馃榾

I saw No Time to Die last week actually. It was very entertaining although a few bits of the plot I felt were unbelievable, plus I thought at nearly 3 hours, it was a bit long. I had to watch it in 3 stints.

That would make a lot of sense I guess. Omega can troll out some old fashioned looking watch for him to wear and you guys will be happy as pigs in muck. or they could give him a Submariner with a NATO that's too narrow, cos that always looks great. 馃榿

I suppose the producers left a little wiggle room just in case they could convince Craig to do one more or if they decide the next Bond would continue on where Craig's Bond left off. But it seems pretty certain that Craig is done and they'll create a different Bond universe for the next Bond.

I really liked NTTD, I've watched it 4 times already. I'd rate it tied for 2nd with Skyfall, with Casino Royale being my favorite Craig film. Quantum of Solace is my least favorite, followed by Spectre. I probably liked Spectre more than most, it doesn't seem popular among the Bond fan community, but I enjoyed it.

Sean Connery's personal DB5 sells for $2.4M. Kind of sad that he loved the car but didn't have much time to enjoy it. Bought in 2018, but Sir Sean passed in 2020.

Background story here: https://www.cnn.com/2022/08/20/busi...sGZl9sAoinn41Vw60p-1K-6bx3zb2KTHG7vOBeU_cUzgM
'During his life, Connery had often told his children of his fond memories of driving the Aston Martin in films, his son Jason Connery said in an interview. When they were grown they suggested to their father that he buy one, but he was resistant to the idea. "He'd say, 'I don't want to because it feels a bit obvious, you know, with me,'" Jason Connery said. "I said, 'But forget it, it's not about that.'"

Barney Ruprecht, an Aston Martin specialist with Broad Arrow who had also consulted with Connery on making the purchase, advised Connery against getting a car in need of restoration since the work would probably take a couple of years, he said. Instead, he and Connery sought out a car that was in as near-perfect condition as possible. The car remains in very nearly that condition, according to Ruprecht, with only some creases in the seat leather as evidence it has been sat in.

Once Connery purchased the car, he had it repainted from black to Snow Shadow Gray, the color closest to that of the movie car.
But after that work was done, there was little time left to actually drive it. "Unfortunately as he got older, traveling, especially to Europe [became difficult] and then COVID hit and...," said Jason Connery. "You know, unfortunately, he never really got to enjoy the car that he'd bought." The car was kept by Connery at his home in Switzerland, according to Jason Connery. He was so fond of the car, he kept a photo of it on his desk.'

@Mspeedster have you heard any rumors about a 60th Anniversary Bond watch?
Nothing, other than it's supposedly coming later in the year. I'd guess sometime closer to Oct. 5th, global James Bond day.

Yeah, I was hoping it would have been announced by now. I think it should be soon, since David Z was invited by Omega.

I had previously seen David mention on social media that he was going to Switzerland for a wedding anniversary trip with his wife. He seemed to do many Bond related things while there, in addition to visiting Omega. So perhaps the Omega invite wasn't for a watch launch?

Good to know. Although didn't he say on his video that there was content that he couldn't show yet?

Yup, I believe his exact words were "we couldn't show you everything, because some of it is top secret". He had just come from their manufacturing tour, so I took it to mean manufacturing secrets, but who knows maybe he saw a new unreleased watch? 馃槜

I bet if there is one to celebrate the 60th anniversary, he saw it during his visit.
