Cool, was your mom really into Bond too?
That's the part of Doug's story that connected with me. My dad had read all the books and was a big Bond fan before I ever was. It's his fault I got hooked! 馃ぃ
Although the last movie we saw together was Roger Moore's last one, A View to a Kill, because I moved to a different state shortly after.

It just amazes me how so many of those props were left to rot somewhere. The Breitling Top Time (Geiger counter gadget watch) from Thunderball was bought at a garage sale for 25gbp. It auctioned for 100,000gpb in 2013. Just imagine if the original James Bond Rolex Submariner, from the first 4 films, is ever found. It would surely be worth millions!
She was a casual fan; I suppose must people who grew-up watching Connery, learned to love the series.

These guys carry props and other memorabilia.

Am I the only one thinking that the actual watch shown in the movie is with countdown bezel?

Seems quite possible. The bezel on Bond's watch does look a bit busy, so it might be the countdown bezel. But if it is that version, it should have white hash markers going all the way around the inner edge of the bezel, which I can't really see in these two pics. So, it's hard to say with certainty one way or the other.

However, the Night Diver being worn by Felix Leiter in the movie appears to be more like the standard bezel to me.

Either way, you've got it covered! The 980.031.60 (countdown bezel version) is quite rare, very cool that you've got one! 馃槑

This video is informative, but it has lots of errors.

The best images so far pretty clearly show silver rectangles between the numerals on the bezel, as opposed to the numerals-only bezel insert used on the countdown version 980.031.60.

This closeup of the image @Mspeedster posted on 9/30/24 above pretty clearly shows the silver rectangles, and hash marks from 0-15 only, as is the case with the normal 980.031:

This changing of the guard also offers the intriguing prospect of James Bond wearing a watch other than an Omega for the first time in 30 years. The Omega faithful would certainly be in an uproar if that were to happen. But the last time we saw Albert R. Broccoli pass the baton to his daughter Barbara, Bond switched from Aston Martin to driving BMWs, so anything is possible! 馃

This is a seismic shift and opens up the door to complete new possibilities. I hope the quality of the movies improves and that the brand is not watered down, like what happened to Star Wars.

I hope we don't go down the path of having a woke Bond or a woman Bond.
It's already totally different to the Bond of the 90's and early 2000's.

I agree that James Bond should stay true to character as created by Ian Fleming, especially for the movies.

However, having an expanded James Bond universe could spawn a variety of Amazon Series with characters such as Moneypenny and Paloma etc. I would be up for that!

Seems many have already cast Bezos as the next Bond villain. 馃ぃ
