Sorry again. I opened this from ebay apps one my handphone. That was the end of the screen screenshot. I couldnt find it. Should i open it from the web instead ?

I'm not sure whether the mobile app has the feature to report. So yes, open the web version perhaps.

I have this war215a that has a"ACIER" mark in the back case which mean Steel in Franch I think... but not sure, never have seen this mark before in other watches likes this, please help me know if authentic. Please look pics

Yes, that's Steel, often found as "ACIER INOXYDABLE", or Stainless Steel. A Certain Search Engine finds photos with and without the ACIER engraving, so I'd suggest it's probably genuine and dependent on laws in different countries. Just a guess but with a part-gold case it may be a requirement in some markets to mark the parts that are not gold [1]. See for example "Fab Suisse" markings for older watches when sold in France.

[1] However as a counter-example I have just pulled out my 1979 Seamaster purchased new in the USA and the stainless steel back on the gold-plated case has no such marking, just the seahorse and the movement calibre.

I am new to your blog & have viewed many photos you have listed to see if I could identify a watch I have purchased from a reputable auction house in the UK, without success. I cannot find any information about the reference on line nor this particular watch, so understandably I am somewhat anxious now in case I have purchased a fake. Is it possible with your expertise you could advise. The model is Monaco cw2117 ref xd1860? I believe it to be dated around 1990 but I would welcome your comments.

sorry I meant reference xd1210.....
The ref is CW2117. The other number is your serial number. I don't see any red flags.

Many thanks for your response, would you know anything about the white dial watch... I imagine its not as popular for collectors as the blue one but why does it never get mentioned?

Now I do a bit more research, it seems most CW2117 are slightly different. Still 38mm but marketed as a womens watch with white strap, a slightly shinier white dial and fewer numbers on the subdial. I still don't see anything to mark yours out as fake, but it does seem quite rare in that configuration, as you suggest. Maybe someone else knows more about the history of this particular version.

Interesting. On the face of it I agree with Imagwai, however, a quick Google brings up a rather different looking dial... with more subdivisions on the minute track and round subdials. To be honest I would have said your was genuine and the others were fake, but for that one of them was sold by Watchfinder...

I mean a repainted dial or a different service dial? I agree it's less likely, but possible nonetheless.

I guess... it seems odd to me that what appears to be the 'real' dial looks so incredibly fake.

Many thanks for your comments & reassurance on my watch, I would still be interested to know some history about the model, a more accurate date and just has anyone out there got a watch like this or has come across another? all comments are very welcome.
