I can offer a little "2000 History" to the discussion. I'll freely admit that most of my information has been from Calibre 11!
I believe the WK series came out in 1995 (2nd generation as depicted in the article referenced above). From 1991 to 1994, it was the WE series (the only reason I know this is because I own a WE1110). Prior to 1991, it was a numbered series (e.g. 962.006). The WK series remained in production right up to 2004 (it was called the Classic 2000). It got a new brother in 2001, the WN series which was marketed as the 2000 Exclusive series. In 2004 a new 2000 "brother" came out along side these two - the WAB series which was also known as the 2000 Aquaracer. Why would this be significant? Because in 2005, the series became the Aquaracer series and remains so up to this day!
As for ATna909's watch above, as other more experienced members have stated, it's an authentic Classic 2000 quartz and looks to be in decent shape - although the case back may have been over polished at some point. The serial number should be somewhere on the caseback (underneath the model number or to the side). In either event, enjoy your classic 2000 and wear it in good health!
