Tag doesn’t make the quartz movement in that watch so you need to do some research to see what movement that watch is supposed to have. There may be several depending on production date. Swiss quartz movements including the one in the genuine version of that watch run about 30-50US so counterfeiters always choose a swiss quartz caliber movement. So there’s really no way your jeweler could tell by looking at the movement itself unless he/she knew as much about that particular watch as Tag Heuer themselves.

Below are three different companies/listings selling the watch model I think I bought, WAY101E.FC8222. Aquaracer, cyclops, quartz movement. Are they all fake or all have aftermarket cyclopes? I don't think so, I think model "WAY101E.FC8222" exists.
