Hi everyone new to the hobby someone is selling this watch to me for the low and everyone knows if it’s to good to be true maybe it’s a fake jajajajaja
No disrespect to the seller if he’s here
Sorry for the bad pictures took them of the post
Looks OK to me and I hope it passes muster because it's a beltin' looking piece.
If it isn't genuine it won't be the 1st time I've been fooled 😕

Muster ??

"Muster" is when troops are assembled, esp. for inspection or display. If something "passes muster", it has passed the inspection.

Hi! New to forum. Just wanted to check how this looks. I got almost too good of a deal....

Everything looks good to me and the serial checks out.

Any advise on a replacement pip?
Honestly, it's hard to say, because the fake ones have a pip that is essentially melted into the bezel. I'm not even sure the pip Can come out of the fake ones. Where as the real ones, have a pip inserted into the bezel, and has a thin metal casing.

yeah you're good to go. Price seems a bit high tho, for just a Tag heuer case, without a bracelet or strap. Plus some missing paint on the numbers and lume. There might be better deals out there, and we can't know the condition of the movement. Is that mens or mid?

Man tho, I'd love to polish up those bezel nubs lol. It's always my favorite part of restoring these.

I know for sure that TAGs use the services of Asian manufacturers. (I mean the manufacturer Ronda). They have production "outside" Switzerland. Therefore, it is possible that other parts may also be from "outside" Switzerland.

Please excuse me, but I disagree with this logic. Ronda is not an "Asian" manufacturer. It's a Swiss company that manufacturers quartz movements. Some of their movements are made in Switzerland, and some are made in Asia. Ronda is a separate company from TAG Heuer.

TAG Heuer watches are "Swiss Made" as indicated on many dials and on the case backs of many watches, where you will see the words "Swiss Made", or in the case of my watches, "Swiss Since 1860". TAG is known to use "generic" Swiss movements, and in fact has been (IMHO wrongfully) criticized by WIS who only like "in-house" movements. For years, TAG used ETA movements, but had to switch to other manufacturers due to the fact that the Swatch Group (who owns ETA) cut off supply to non Swatch group watch companies. TAG now uses Ronda for their quartz movements and Sellita for their automatic movements. Both Ronda and Sellita make movements for many other watch companies, including those that do not produce "Swiss Made" watches. So those "Swiss Parts" Ronda quartz movements could be found in many other watches that are not branded or advertised as being "Swiss Made". However, I still believe that a Ronda "Swiss Parts" movement in a TAG Heuer watch would be a red flag, indicating a fake.

Of course, TAG Heuer has produced its own in-house movements, and in recent years these have been featured in several higher end models (e.g. Heuer 02). But TAG Heuer continues to use generic (Ronda/Sellita) in most of their watches.

Could some parts of the TAG Heuer watch be from Asia? I honestly don't know. I believe it is certainly possible. But to state that TAG uses the services of Asian manufacturers is not an accurate statement in my view.

Hi again,

So the watch I previously inquired about was genuine (sent it to Tag) HOWEVER, the jeweler I bought it from neglected to tell me it had water damage! I would have probably let it slide, but the jeweler said they had the movement out of the case when they were getting ready to list it for sale. Very unlikely they didn't notice this before putting everything back together. Anyways, I returned the watch and got my money back. It would have cost me around $850 for full service + other damaged parts. No way I would just do service and ignore everything else, even if the watch was working fine prior to sending it in. It would be on the back of my mind non stop.

Whats next? The hunt continues...

I found another piece, this time it's brand new. Waiting on more pictures. Can anyone tell me if these come with clear plastic on the dial? Serial number checks out which is nice but not concrete. Lume pip looks off but I won't know for sure until I get better pics.

In USA, looking for a WAY201A.BA0927 - budget is $1750 or less.

Ah yeah, that one is real. So what's going to happen now with it?
Bought on eBay, returned to seller. I paid $1,250 but after quote from Tag it would have ended up costing $2,100 and that isn't worth it IMO.

Why do you say it's fake? Lume pip is hard to see, hang tag looks a bit off but it also doesn't look obviously fake. Idk I'm not an expert.
