I was tempted to link the caseback in the other thread, actually.

Oh god I hate how the terms mint and NOS are misused by sellers.

This shows also why ceramic is not an ideal material for watches... I wonder what it costs to replace?
Yeah the word Mint isn't really appropriate here... Even without the chip its not in great condition.

Out of intertest I wonder how hard you would need to hit the bezel for that to happen? I haven't personally heard from anyone who has cracked their ceramic bezel / case.

Google and you shall find. I think its rare but it can happen when for instance someone drops the watch on bathroom floor or smacks it into something hard. Annoying to have to have to replace the whole case, have read some nightmare stories about IWC's where it had cost a small fortune to buy a brand new case

Amazing. You can imagine how upset customers will be after reading false advertising that their ceramic watch is "super tough and scratch resistant" and then the damn thing breaks from a short fall and has to be repaired for almost the same money the damn watch cost brand new....

Maybe my IWC Top Gun dream is now shifting towards a Spitfire dream instead.

The high replacement cost is certainly something to take into consideration when buying such a watch but with the high sales numbers of ceramic watches I'm doubting if this occurs a lot. People who got away without a scratch after a bump/drop don't tend to report it.
