Another red 1000 on eBay UK.
Seller seems genuine and says he bought from a reputable retailer.
I've told him about this forum for more info.

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/123905095630

EDIT: from his feedback, it looks like he's bought the watch from tradenvint.

As someone predicted earlier, an unsuspecting buyer looking to sell the watch that he thought was genuine.

so I got tired of waiting on ebay to ban https://www.ebay.com/usr/mulinernyc?ul_noapp=true, and I finally messaged him.

This was his response.
"
Hello. The watch is authentic. You are correct, Tag they will not work on it. It is authentic but grey market. You need to purchase the watch from an authorized Tag dealer, to have them work on it or service it. They will not handle the watch otherwise. That is why the watch is discounted and as is. I put this in the listing description. For any service, you can send it back to me or bring it to a local jeweler and we are happy to take care of whatever issues you are having. Just get the watch back from them, let me know what’s wrong with it, and we can repair or replace it, no problem. Thx."

I'm also wasting my time and money, and sending it to Tag Heuer. So I'm not happy about that lol.

Ebay seems to have stopped banning the sellers I send them. They just erase their listings.

"We have been selling hundreds of theses for years. I’m happy to give you a full refund and shipping for the watch. I will just send it back to our supplier. Whatever you would like to do. No problem. Thx"

"Everything we received factory direct. All I can do is offer you a refund if you would like. Thx."

This is fake. Scary right? No way a layman could tell.
Super scary !

Just in the shower this morning, i came to realization.

I think most of the "closest" fake watch across any brands mostly revolve around the movement itself. If it is 2824 or SW200 then they can make good copy out of it.

Recently i came across Breitling Superocean that i am so unsure of but very very close. I asked Jim help me with it. Both of us think it is fake.

Guess what the movement of that Breitling ?

It really is a worrying situation.
Unsuspecting buyers could wear the watch for a few years and then decide to sell on eBay.
The new owner would think they are buying a genuine used watch.

Do these fakes have genuine movements?

Is there any chance that a genuine Tag manufacturer in China is making more watches than required and wholesaling them ?

The amount of work that gone in to that aquaracer to fake it.

Wouldn't the fakers make more by faking Rolex or Tudor watches instead ?

Did you get your watch back yet Jonny?

I didn't send it back. We all know they are fake and I couldn't see any point returning it.
I am in contact with another of tradenvint's eBay customers who bought the same watch as me.
I'll see if he will return the watch to the same service centre and attatch your email to it.

as far as I can tell, they are genuine movements. Why not? Quartz movements are super cheap. NOt sure if any are using ETA movements, tho I'm not sure which current models use ETA movements. Also not sure which automatic movements they are using, but so far they've all used the cheapest variant of the swiss movements. I don't know enough about movements to know if that Tag one is real or not. Maybe they have a source for movements and the rest is made in China?

Okaaay, why would you not send it back? That makes no sense to me... but whatever, it's your watch.

What do I gain if I return it to Tag ?
I've had a refund for the watch and get to keep it.
All it will do is confirm (hopefully 2nd time) that it's fake.

Well it was a golden opportunity to find out what TAG would say second time round and if they would tell you it was genuine again... you're kind of letting them off the hook aren't you?

I don’t blame him. It’s a pain. I’d do it, because I like to watch the world burn and I’d do it for the lulz.

Hell, send ME the watch and I’ll do it.
