Can't really say about the watch but the box, papers, cards all look good so that's an excellent sign of an original

Thanks for the advice! Box does look 100% authentic.

Anyone else have any advice? Just checking if the seller can ship internationally and then I am keen to get it.

Cant say from those crappy pictures. Why buy from Ebay? Can't you purchase from a trusted grey market dealer? Might be 100 dollars more or so but at least you will know who you are dealing with...

Fair. Had a look around, some nice ones on chrono, may just go that route. Thanks.

I am searching for a 2015 McLaren Formula 1 limited edition as a gift for a keen Tag collector. I have found a few out of my price range ($3k +) from online shops and a number on eBay for oddly low prices, with wrong boxes and no pics of the serial #.
Any trustworthy grey market dealer recommendations?
Any idea if these are fakes or legit?

Hi. Bottom watch has sold- other two watches look fine. What I'd look at is the seller- unfortunately, the first seller only has 13 sales...second guy almost 1300. I'd pay a few dollars extra for the more experienced seller (to be clear, I don't know of either seller- just making the point that more experience/ history should be an important consideration).

Combined with what they have sold 1300 of. If it is 1299 $2 widgets and one $150 quartz watch, beware buying a $3000 watch.

I read through much of this forum and see the “if it looks too good to be true” theme, but am still curious as I can see no differences other than the box, which others have posted us not that much if a red flag as even dealers mix theirs up.
I am going to have to give him an iou for his birthday at this rate!
Thanks for any opinions

The problem is Eva, the fakes are getting too good to spot by photographs alone. Obviously with older models and fakes that aren't even actual TAG Heuer models it's easy, but the newest are getting too good to be sure. So yeah, I'm afraid the 'if it's too good to be true' rule is a good rule of thumb, and the fakers are relying on buyers trying to get something for not a lot of money, so ignore it at your peril. I know that's not what you want to hear but...

I'll give you an opinion if you like, and this is purely my personal view...

1. The watch looks genuine from what I can see, but I wouldn't spend a lot of money with an eBay seller with only 13 feedback score and who can't write sentences in his/her listings that make grammatical sense. The watch might be the same as others (assuming he hasn't "borrowed" the pictures), and you could get lucky, but there is simply more risk involved.
2. The pictures are better, as is the feedback. He sells loads of Tag Heuer stuff and has no negative feedback. I would feel more confident with this seller. However, be aware he clearly states no warranty and no returns. So if something goes wrong, you might wish you'd bought from an authorized dealer.
3. Sold now, so moot perhaps. But again, only 14 feedback (all for Star Wars building blocks) and no warranty available. This is the reason for the slightly lower selling price I'm sure.

I'm thinking most, if not all of these watches are genuine btw, although again, one cannot be 100% sure and this is just my opinion.

I always think you should ask (not literally) how come this person has an unworn watch? In a way I would be far more comfortable with someone who had bought a watch, worn it for a short time and decided they didn't like it. And if they have sold lots of watches but they aren't a business seller, how come? You should always weigh up the seller as much as the watch and the pictures (which could always be photos of a real watch anyway!).

The reason I listed the sold one is I asked why he’d had more than one listed with the same pictures. He said he had 20 (!) and could send me individual pics which he never did. I played dumb and said “oh, 20, so they are reproductions?” to which he replied just “NO! “ My feeling is the seller doesn’t even have the product and is selling and disappearing before people realize they aren’t getting anything.

The other seller sounded better when I asked about two listings with the same pics (same watch one listing buy it now & one auction listing) and also wrote in complete sentences!
I get equally sketchy feelings from regular online shops now too, don’t know how I will ever find my brother one!
I’m finding it frustrating, but also oddly psychologically fascinating!
Thanks for all the advice, you guys are great.

is Chrono24 a trustworthy site?
Chrono24 is only a platform. It's as safe as the individual sellers and buyers who use it. Chrono24 makes money by selling listings, to sellers so they want to keep dealers happy.

If you have a problem, I wouldn't count on Chrono24 to help you resolve...

The site yes but it is the sellers you should look up, there are many sellers on C24 and it differs how long they have been around and what reputation they have. Google the sellers would be my advice and stick to sellers with many reviews

Check to see if the seller has their own web site with the same watches listed. You can then give them a call if you want to.

I have bought once on C24, from a dealer, and it all went fine, but I did my due diligence.

I would be loathed to buy from a private individual unless they happened to be local and I could meet them in person.

I found this piece on an auction site. Not by any measure a trustworthy site, but it has my curiosity. The model number on the back, WJF2112, is for a model without a chronometer. Plus, I cannot find any Tag’s with “chronometer” inscribed under the insignia.

Also, the white specs on the crystal are small scratches. Possible with real sapphire crystal?

Shoddy fake or shoddy repair?

@schwyz - that Link is a fake. First off, the model number being WJF2112 would mean:

W = watch (not chronograph which would be a "C")
JF = series (previous Link series)
2 = auto movement (note: chronometer rated movement would be "5")
1 = full (man) size
1 = stainless steel
2 = dial colour

So, seeing the watch is a chronograph with the word "chronometer" on the dial are red flags. Also, there's no reason a chronograph would need two "60 second" subdials. Plus, the watch just doesn't look all that great TBH. Do yourself a favor and pass on this one.
