Has anyone noticed any fake Gulf F1s in circulation? There has been a few on Ebay lately, all at a low price, all unworn, all without the special edition box or warranty card, all with a standard TAG box. With sellers in both the US and Europe using the same photos. And with free postage regardless of location... Maybe I'm becoming too cynical?

In looking at these pics, they seem to be extremely good replicas. But I'm not 100% sure. The only tell tale signs I can see is that the sub dials and the strap have very slight differences compared to my watch.

The sub dial registers in those photos look more silver, on my watch they're more off white in color. Could be the lighting, so not sure. The other thing that's different is that the orange backing on the strap has slight texture to it, on my watch it's completely smooth. Also, in the rectangular holes of the strap, the inner layer color appears to be light blue, whereas on my watch its dark blue, matching the outer layer color. I bought my watch from an AD as soon as the Gulf F1 was released, so it's possible that later versions might have slight differences in the strap construction. But IMHO, I suspect they could be fake.

Obviously the box is wrong and the cheap price is quite suspect. Like they say "if it seems too good to be true..."

EDIT: After staring at the pics a bit more, I'm now sure these are fake. The seconds sub dial is wrong, there are too many markings in the sub dial.
The attached pic is from one of the fake ebay listings. Compare the seconds sub-dial/register (the one at 3 o'clock) to pics of the real watch. Too many extended line markers. These are definitely fakes!

If it helps you, here are some pictures of the Gulf of my mother-in-law's, she bought it from an official dealer in August 2018 :

Not bad enough for ebay though lol

eBay is a sham when it comes to fakes, all they care about is their commission. If you think about it, even if the watch is a fake and Paypal retrieve the buyers money, they still get to keep the selling fees, so it's not in their interest to deter fakes is it... especially as they can then say they've 'stopped X many fakes and retrieved the money'. If they took them down instead (like they should) then they lose out every way.😡

Doesn't it make you laugh though, there's these highly sophisticated fakes that you really need side by side viewing to be 100% sure, and then utter drivel like that sells for $600!

Are we saying this watch is fake? Please excuse me, but all I see is a TAG Heuer exclusive chronograph, model CN2110-0. It's got the classic Valjoux 7750 configuration which TAG renames as the Calibre 16. So the model and movement numbers look good. This watch is from the early to mid 2000's, and I don't believe fake TAGs from that era looked as good as they do today.

I couldn't see any red flags, other than the low price. But this is ebay - perhaps the seller is hoping for a bidding war? Also, we have no idea about the movement - it very well could need a service which would not be cheap.

Of course, one should never buy a watch without first buying the seller. For all we know, you could be paying for this watch and receive a box of potato chips in the mail...

You're looking at the "The listing you're looking for has ended. We found something similar" page. Go to the "View original item" link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Tag-Heuer-...m43663.l10137&nordt=true&rt=nc&orig_cvip=true
