Is my TAG Heuer Authentic? All questions here please

I paid 1680 and purchased through my Amex
Bit pricey without being brand new condition. Obviously you need to return it. But I have no idea how the watchfinder process works. Might need to go through AMEX. Does the seller have any other watches? I ask, because that determines how I handle these situations. If he's just some innocent guy that also got scammed like you, I'd go easy on him. Otherwise, I get my money back, and I keep the watch, because scammers can go to hell. If you send the watch back, they will just use it to scam someone else. Can you share the serial number with us?

called dealer and everything confirmed. Still looks authentic for you or not? Curios about from what year you can check the serial number and warranty card authenticity on the official site if TAG?

lol really? I need more info on that please. Must have been some super lazy tech. Or maybe the watch wasn't actually geunine? I still remember that one time one of our guys sent a fake one to tag, and they said it was real lol. But it was a 30-40 year old model... and whoever worked on it was probably not even born yet.

Watch bought from a boutique, sent to WF two-three years later and rejected. Unless TH boutique stock is fake too... in which case what's the point at all.

Oh hey, one of the original fakes of this model lol. They were still using the boxes that were made even cheaper than normal. Tho the watches themselves were made a little better than now. But also, we were lucky in that they were still using bad serial numbers and or numbers they stole, compared to now, where I suspect THEY buy real watches themselves, and use those authentic serial numbers. Rather than waiting on someone to post a pic of the model they want to produce.

there is always the slightest chance that the watch got swapped out with a fake? Or maybe a part was swapped out, and tag heuer spotted it and just deemed the whole thing fake? Is there a thread about this watch???

you can think anything you want, I guess. I can only give you information. I can't force you to drink.
Not sure why buying or not buying from an independent seller would matter, in regards to my determination tho. Unless you bought it from an AD, nothing else makes a difference here. The watch is an obvious fake. It's unfortunately as simple as that.

I didn't know much about watchfinder, so I assumed you were implying that watchfinder is selling watches, when you said they are a large corporation. So unless you bought it from them directly, from something they themselves own and sold, which I can't seem to find information about. you DID buy from an independent seller. This is no different than ebay or even amazon, in how products are sourced. The only good thing, is that they receive the watches prior to shipping them out. Which is scary, considering they let this watch go through their "highly trained, manufacturer-accredited watchmakers." .

But even than, ebay has a program sort of like that, but only for watches at a certain price point. But I can't tell from their website (watchfinder) if their accredited watch makers are in house, or like ebay, are outsourced to third parties. Because as I've shown multiple times on here, ebay's authentication program is compete garbage. Because they send them to watch stores that don't have specialized knowledge. I'd bet money, that they opened the case, and saw a calibre 5 movement, and or they searched the serial number, which came back as valid, and they said " yep, it's real".

Look through this thread. Modern clones literally use "oem" movements now. All the parts ( except crown/tube on tag heuer) are interchangeable with the OEM. So sending it to a company that has very little experience with modern clones, and even less experience with the specific individual models we are dealing with, is pointless. They handle probably 1000's different models from 100 different brands. There is NO way they can know the tells of every single model, and know the tells, that are now changing every 1-2 years..... for every single model they might ever have come through their shops.

also, i realize now, that you probably said this because there is still warranty left based on the serial number? Which makes my point even more, that this company probably didn't bother to do anything besides confirming that the serial number is valid, which can only be done with a watch that was bought from an AD, AND registered after. So as far as they are concerned, it would be silly to not assume the watch is real, and why bother spending any more time on it than they have to? Have YOU opened the back case yet? If you have that ability, I mean.

Go ahead and send it to tag heuer for warranty work. Just make sure the timing works out, and you would still be able to return the watch in whatever return period they have.

I guess we can take watchfinder off the list of places to buy an authentic watch tho....

Probably been stuck down. I had one that was glued in place, super annoying if they move because of the split logo. Either that or it's seized up. Looks a bit too good to be a fake to be honest

I also do have the warranty card box tags etc… not sure if that matters though

Amazing if you send it to TAG and we can know what the outcome was. Watchfinder is (used to be?) the only place I trusted for used Aquaracers...

Yea I’ll send it out eventually I’m very convinced it is real but obviously on a biased stance here

The reason why I've always said buying from Watchfinder is a good idea is that they have too much reputation to lose, so if they do sell you a fake they will definitely take it back - they would not want anyone making a stink about a fake. This is a multi million dollar company that operates in the centre of London, dealing in lots of Rolex and AP etc. I imagine their QC is a lot better on the Rolex and AP's and perhaps they are not so hot on the cheaper stuff anymore. Still, you can always send it to TAG and find out for sure and then throw it back at them once you have proof.

Yea they have great customer service to if the watch did turn out to be counterfeit I don’t think I would have any issue
