With the "rare" day counter option too? Love the barber pole decoration as well.

I must say, as a seller, this is concerning. So someone just tells eBay the (real) watch I sell them is fake and then they can just blow me off?
I had an issue with eBay on a sale of a watch. I listed and sold a watch and had a “no return accepted” due to it being an older automatic watch. After 45 days of ownership the buyer asked for a refund and to send it back as he stated that it wasn’t keeping time. After 45 days it would be obvious to most it was something on his end. I said I would not accept a return as he must have damaged it as it was fine up until then.
I filed my claim stating why a return should not be accepted and had evidence, photos and info. EBay ended up refunding the customer their money with no watch return. EBay stated that the payment method company that the customer used refunded the customer based upon his claim. EBay then claimed I owed eBay the money back and even though I sold through eBay since the buyers payment company filed for the buy they would not support me the seller and processed a refund. Refund was not only the money I received and also the tax they paid. I personally will not be selling anything on the bay. To many fakes and too many loopholes for shady buyers. Mine in the end paid nothing for a pretty nice watch. I paid double to own one

Man, that's a tough one to swallow bro. I don't know what to say. I've bought a large majority of my watches on the bay and have been nearly always satisfied with what I received. For me it's been pretty much a 95% success, some vintages not working and kinda expect that might happen. But that's been as a buyer of course, cause that's what I do! Lately, like the last year or so, things seemed to have changed. I recently had a problem with a shipment from overseas not arriving in the expected time frame. After some concern I contacted the seller and of course he said to be patient and wait. Shipping delays are a worldwide problem. OK. So I alerted eBay to my worries. They responded that I was beyond the 30 day window for filing an issue and advised me to just contact the seller directly at this point and hopefully it'll work out, "Best of luck!", there's nothing else they can do. Long story short I finally did receive that watch from Japan. But it really leaves me feeling vulnerable to future purchases, particularly from overseas.
Never considered that sellers might get screwed as well. In the end ebay wins no matter which side gets ripped, what a world!

Yes, eBay wins and trying to get a hold of a person to work things out is next to impossible. When calling in to try to resolve the dispute the recording would say, please call back during hours of operation and not give the hours of operation. I ended up getting to speak to someone through the automated system by saying I was having trouble making a purchase, then I got straight through. I then got bounced around for an hour to get a I’m sorry sir but it’s in our rules and regulations that you sign off on by signing up with us

That really sucks! If ebay was demanding reimbursement, I would've demanded that they at least force the buyer to return your watch to you. I've always heard that ebay tends to side more with buyers' claims, but this seems so unfair! 😡

I rarely sell my watches, the few that I have were to reputable independent dealers. Being fully aware I could get more $ selling on my own. But I just didn't want the hassle. Your story is like a worst case scenario for a seller. 🙁

Man, I am so sorry to hear this @thingziliketoo. That’s terrible. 🤬

I do the same as @Mspeedster. When I have sold mine, I go with some dealers I have a relationship with. I know I am leaving some money on the table, but it’s less hassle and each transaction is smooth. I still occasionally sell things on e-Bay, but for my watches, I have only sold one quartz piece on e-Bay and had an uneasy feeling about it, too.

Thanks guys, going forward I’m selling/trading in to a reputable dealer. The money difference between trading in vs selling on eBay or chrono doesn’t seem worth it at this point. I have sold quite a bit of guitar gear on Craigslist at the price I would get after commissions to the selling platform, with very good results. Once the deal is done it’s done. I will sell cheaper watches this way.

What bothers me a lot is how clever these criminals who run ebay are. They have managed to turn a super shady criminal platform into something that is perceived as legit in the public's eyes. Even worse when sites like ABTW continues to get paid for collaborations and ads about ebay and how much they recommend listeners and readers to "find your dream timepiece" on ebay, ebay is super trustworthy etc etc.

While I'm no fan of ebay, something is missing here. Your issue isn't with ebay. It's with credit card processors. Ebay has a 30 day money back guarantee. What you had, was a credit card charge back. That is literally the same no matter where you go through, if a credit card is used. You lost the watch, because you denied the claim, and the credit card processor made the decision that their customer was right. The reason you didn't receive the watch, was because you denied the return, therefor telling them that you don't want the watch. Again, has nothing to do with ebay. As shitty as ebay is, even THEY are at the mercy of credit card companies, and they sure as hell aren't going to eat that cost.

So what information did you provide? Because I lost a return through my credit card company, on an $800 watch that was broken, because the seller provided whatever info, and ebay helped them. There really is no evidence a seller can provide, to deny a buyers claim that the watch no longer works. So it's still a bit of a crap shoot, but the credit card companies do have the upper hand. So unless you plan on only selling cash, in hand, and in person, then you will be open to this problem in the future as well.

I mean, yeah. It's real. But in shit condition. Someone brushed away all the polished.... And there are no end links, and it's 3 links short of fullsize. You could probably get $200-250 for it.

They almost ALWAYS side with buyers claims, but this isn't one of those cases, as the buyer is actually going after ebay themselves here, and they would actually prefer NOT to lose. Ebay did not side with the buyer. The buyer went around ebay and ebays protections. Ebay sides with the seller in these cases. Doesn't mean they won't lose tho. But if they do lose, they will make sure you lose too.

It was 45 days after the purchase, beyond the 30 day mark.

Can anyone help to tell if my watch is authentic? Model number is CBG2A1Z.FT6157 . I have verified the serial number on Tag Heuer website and it is legit. I made a comparison of the back case and front case with videos on Youtube it looks similar. However I noticed a slight difference, if you look at the my watch face photo (last photo), the button to reset chronograph (bottom button) is blue colour stripe, but those video on youtube and official watch image, the blue stripe button should be located on top (chronograph start button) whereas the black stripe is on the bottom button.

Question: Will there be a slight variation to the design for different watch batches?
