Hey everyone! I'm looking at a couple of watches locally from private sellers and I've run the serial numbers through the TAG site to try and verify them. Might seem like a dumb question but if the serial number number does not pull anything up then does that definitively mean the watch is a fake? Or is it possible that there is some other reason that the number is not pulling up in the system? Thanks!
not a dumb question. And the answer is no, it generally means nothing. EXCEPT if the seller claims he bought it from a dealer. a serial number will only come up, if it was bought from a dealer and registered with tag.
Interesting thanks for the info! So if the SN does not come up then that means it was originally sold by someone other than a dealer? How would that work for a new watch?
My Monaco CAW211P came from a reputable source (H&T) with the "full suite". Inner box, outer box, instructions, McQueen insert with corresponding serial sticker, and original dated guarantee TAG card stamped by the dealer. I have conversed with the dealer and they confirm they have the sale of the watch on record.
However the serial does not show up on the TAG website. Does this mean my Monaco is fake.?
See, this would be one of the examples I mentioned, where SN is important. If dealer says the watch is on record with TAG, then it should show up on the website. Something is wrong there.
Just means there is no warranty. Cost of repair will be on you.
Is the warranty optional when buying new?
And zero feedback, listing in Bulgaria. But one good thing is him saying "I am not worn watch", which is always good to know
