I am never buying a 1000 no siree.
At least I know mine is genuine, I might still have the receipt in the box, about 38 year old now.

Does this Aquaracer look right to you? It has that Pagani looking bezel, or am I seeing ghosts?

But of those are fake as shit

Yeah, I thought so. I asked him if he knew they were fake and he deleted his account. Why would someone tag me in on a pic of a fake watch? What a dumbass.

Hi all,
My first post so be please be gentle 😀.
Picked this Formula 1 up yesterday and fully expected it to be fake if I’m being quite honest as it didn’t seem to have the same build quality as my only other Tag , a Series 2000.
You can imagine my surprise when I removed the case back and found an ETA movement and the name Tag Heuer 😀.
That got me thinking that it could actually be genuine , so I’d be really grateful if anyone could confirm the good news that it is real or give me the bad news that it isn’t 🙁.
It wasn’t that filthy on purchase so I think that if it is real then it may not have had much use , the glass face only has 1 small scratch, the bezel a few minor abrasions and the clasp 1 big scratch .
The lume fades markedly after about 4 hours and it keeps perfect time, I’ve had it running almost 24 hours now and it’s still exact, the bezel also only turns anti-clockwise.
Some of the pics were taken prior to cleaning so excuse the dirt!
Thanks!

Edit , I can’t get a very good photo, but the movement apart from saying Tag Heuer 4.96 also has ETA 955412 .
I also can’t get it to photograph very well , but under the 200 Meters on the case back it is stamped WA1211 in a much less deep text than the rest of the case back , in fact it looks like a series of dots stamped?

I can't add any more than what I told you over at Watchuseek, but as I mentioned, @Aquagraph and @Snowy are probably the experts on these models. Personally, I think you did exceedingly well for £5!

Thanks for letting me know about this forum!
I’m hoping that the experts that you mentioned can put me out of my misery 😀.
Cheers

Looks fine to me.... I can't actually recall ever seeing a fake 'classic' F1, there doesn't seem much point really cos they aren't worth a fortune anyway. You do get a lot of 'replacement' bezels and stuff like that, but I think that's tolerated since they were so easily damaged and made of plastic. I paid about £160 for a similar piece not too long ago (on a plastic strap) so I think you got the bargain of the year there.

Thanks Aquagraph!
I picked this up a car boot sale yesterday and the seller (who had a few other junky watches on his stall) said he wasn’t sure if it was genuine but as he’d paid £3 to have a new battery installed he wanted £5 for it.
I decided to take a gamble on it but he did say “you’ve got a good buy there” as I walked away but I didn’t think he was being serious 😁.
I must confess that many years ago when I had my first decent wages and bought myself the Series 2000 the Formula 1 didn’t get a glance from me 🙁, but now that I’ve got one , I rather like it 😁.
It’s going to join my small collection of watches now.
Thanks again!

WEA1112.FT6008 by the looks of it... fake ones are usually 'TIGER WOODS' models.
is there an easy way to tell if one is legit or not? was browsing the online shop of a local jewelry store and they have the Tiger Woods one in there shop..... and I was thinking about it...... and on the same note is $1500 CDN a reasonable price for one?

They sure did, its the one where the TAG Heuer logo completely disappears at some angles. It was released with the Camouflage model IIRC.

Amazingly, Golf models seem to hold their value better than you would expect. But even so that looks a tad high for the condition. Not sure if there is an easy way to ensure authenticity, if I was buying a Golf I think I would be sending it to TAG to authenticate immediately.

Here's a listing mislabeled as "AG Heuer Carrera Watch". Clearly it's a rare SLS model🤦
