Just take a look at this site. It’s a “legal” website that sells fakes.

I’m impressed about the quality of some models, maybe there are pictures of authentic ones in some cases.

However Aquaracers and Formula 1’s are indistinguishable from authentic ones.
I wouldn't say that. They all look like very obvious fakes from a quality point of view imo. I could point you to a site that sells much better. But doubt either are legal, and also don't think it's a good idea to post links to them on the forum!

I think we should always avoid sharing links to sites that promote fakes! If serious sites link to them it increases their scoring by google

I mean “legal” because they are tolerated. No one shut them down. And it looks that it’s been here for a long time.

I agree though, I found a different site that was based in France and had it's address clearly available - I don't understand how a company like that could operate in the EU without being shut down. China is to be expected, but not within Europe.

Difficult tô understand.
It’s quite different from an occasional eBay sale. And they are sold as fake. They even categorize the quality of the replicas. Some are said to have ETA movements.

Hi all, I have been looking around on Chrono24 and came across this Carrera. I would like some thoughts on it, especially the last 2 images.

https://www.chrono24.co.za/tagheuer/carrera-calibre-heuer-01--id16299507.htm

1. It seems the lugs are different colours. With most of the piece black but 2 lugs seem to be silver and 2 black. (in the last 2 images)
2. How secure is Chrono24 in terms of authenticity? Do they guarantee this?

Thanks in advance.

1. Could this be a trick of the light? All the other photos show steel lugs. You can always shoot the seller a message to check. Always good to message them first anyway, so you know what kind of seller you are dealing with.
2. Chrono24 aren't the seller - they are an online marketplace. The "seller" you are dealing with here is a private individual in Japan, one without feedback by the look of it. Chrono24 will hold your finds in Escrow and release them to the seller once you have confirmed the watch has been delivered. They won't check the watch for you - that's up to you.

Also bear in mind if importing from Japan, you may be liable for import duty, taxes and fees.

Thank you for the quick and thorough feedback, I really appreciate it! I will get in contact with the seller and keep looking around. This piece has been on my bucket list for a while now!

I agree.

I have made it my policy to never buy from private sellers on Chrono24. This is not as a result of a bad experience but I feel it is so much harder to 'buy the seller' when they are private.

The dealers often have web sites outside of Chrono24 and hence phone numbers so you can call them. Plus they normally have some credible feedback.

When I checked the serial number of this watch, I found out that it was sold at the authorized dealer in Japan on August 15, 2015. Also, I think the color of the rug is different depending on the amount of light.

I think the seller could be an individual or a pawnshop.

Can be, although speaking to them via message and escrow works for me to an extent. The main reason I haven't bought much on Chrono24 or indeed anything from a private seller there is that the asking prices seem a bit on the high side!
