Here in the US on the secondary market a couple have dipped towards the $5k mark. Sometimes a watch is worth paying MSRP directly to the company though, and this is one of em!

I can understand why they are trying to sell the brown Aquaracer and the Night Diver, but I can't for the life of me understand why they need to sell the CBK221B at a 25% discount! So much for my belief that maybe this was a watch that might be an 'investment'.

·Just spoke to my contact at EJ. They were surprised about the price too. Of course they didn't have one for me and tried to sell me a 42mm Carrera (no thanks!) but are going to phone head office and check if there are any lying about (I doubt it, though, at that price).

·Just to confirm. Ernest Jones cannot supply the 160th - out of stock. They sent me some pretty good deals on Zeniths, Bremonts and a Bell & Ross if anybody is interested. All too big for me, though.

Answer my own question, Chrono 24 has them anywhere between £2800 and £5500. I wonder how much they were in 2010?

That was way too ambitious of them, the Silverstone was really cool but so niche in both heritage and in design that they really should have restricted production to ~200, maybe 250 examples of each? And an original Silverstone trades for the lower end nowadays of that range you see on C24 - much less back in 2010. The only people who would have known what a Silverstone was, would have known where to find them.

I still think the CBK221B will be a watch that in ten years time people will be searching for and if people really love it as much as they appear to then they won't be selling them, ergo that creates a shortage of available pieces. Or is that just optimism beyond realism?

Both the Heuer Carrera Silver 160 and the Heuer Silverstone Blue 150 are great re-editions! Not sure if calling it an “investment” is the proper term but they will surely keep a good deal of their value through time since both appeals to the vintage and the contemporary collector. There are nothing in the Swiss watch industry like them and both have a known provenance / pedigree to go with them 👍👍
It’s always good when a watch comes with a good ol’ story 😉
