Seems to be a big struggle for TAG to sell all these. I assume future limited editions will be much more restricted in terms of numbers produced.

That just doesn’t make sense to me - I may be biased, I am sure I am biased but I don’t get why there are still some out there new. 😕

I really think it depends on which region this watch is released, down here very few understand the history of Heuer and the significance of this watch, top that with how much more expensive this watch is from your typical TAG and your gonna have a tough time moving this watch here.

They have some nice new Porsche editions as well and the new Gulf Monaco too.

Bit highly priced too if you ask me.

Sometimes I feel it’s the right price based upon the competition with in-house movements. Do you think if it had a $5500 price tag it would be more competitive or more desired in the market. I understand it’s more of an enthusiast watch but don’t understand the lack of appeal from the general consumers.

I would love to know the specific numbers on the styles and models of watches Tag sells to better understand their market.

Yes me too!

Rob tells me the Connected is the best seller for TAG in terms of numbers of watches sold. F1 probably second. I can imagine they also sell quite a lot of Aquaracers and modern looking Carreras too. Problem for us though is we seem to be in a very small minority, TAG customer base is probably mostly interested in the modern looking stuff is my guess.

Yes I believe the Connected is the best seller now, the F1 is always a good seller because it is the most affordable for Joe Public. At one time the skeleton (that everyone hates) Carreras were way up there too.

Not sure the average TAG fan would agree that they hate it though! I don't hate it either

Plenty of skeleton haters here though...
Aaah yes, didn't understand that 'everyone' means the 10 people in this forum 🙄

Honestly I think your world view is distorted by being on this forum. You can see it in the COCO Council too, I would lay a bet that come the end of the year the Watch of the Year is either going to be the green Carrera or the Hodinkee Dato 45.... 😵‍💫

Exactly. I should have been more precise.

Good point. Its enough to look at WUS TAG Heuer forum, seems to be a whole lot more Aquaracer, F1 and modern looking models popular over there in the not so "nerdy" culture

I understand it’s more of an enthusiast watch but don’t understand the lack of appeal from the general consumers.

I think a big contgributing factor is that TAG seems to willfully resist finding a niche and sticking with it. Every year they shotgun-blast a whole bunch of random designs, then change them completely after a year or two. This leads to disrespect from a very large portion of the watch-buying public - someone with $6500 to spend will probably have long since stopped paying attention to TAG altogether. People with $2 or 3000 to spend however, still do as it's one of the first steps up from the micros and budgets.

So, something like the glassbox Carrera ends up only really being noticed by the very small slice of Heuer fans who still give TAG the time of day. And TAG has worked very hard to make sure there are far fewer than 2000 of us...

The 1000 Montreal and 1860 Silver dial pieces have been showing as 'Out of Stock' for some time on the TAG website, maybe there are just a few watches left with certain OBs?

I'm sure this is the explanation. If you were looking to buy one, you might get lucky, but more likely you'd have to hunt around or go used.

It's usually by country. So this means the allocation is sold out in the UK. I happen to know for a fact there's a Montreal a couple blocks away from me in the 5th Ave boutique though, and may or may not be a couple 160s 😉

Amazingly the 1000 pieces Montreal is still available via the US TH website. Had there only been the Silver, it probably would have sold out faster. But with the combination of both made these easier to get. I actually prefer this amount, rather than having to fight the flippers for 1 out of say 250 or 500.
