I didn’t pay retail but I also did get anywhere close to 30 percent.
30% is extremely unusual. Indeed, any discount is on these limited editions. Most purchasers of this watch will have paid full retail.

Yeah agree. I’ve found with things like watches and cars, you think you did pretty well but there is always someone online reporting a crazy deal. 30 percent is really crazy though. I can’t even get 30 percent on an Oris these days let alone a desirable watch like this.

I know its very difficult to get any discount from a Boutique these days. Definitely no option for a discount when purchasing online.
My AD was able to offer 30% off probably due to the fact I've purchased my previous 5 Tags from them.

As I said earlier I was very surprised at this price
So jumped on it. I think further back in this thread @imagwai stated the price he paid from an AD also.

It was -20%. And when I tried to get a discount on the latest teal Carrera (same place), I was told that the silver being offered at that price was a mistake and shouldn't have happened 😀

I bought mine at full retail and don't care how cheap anyone else bought theirs 😁 Most new watches I can wait until prices come down on the secondary market, but some are just so great I need to have it immediately!

You could say you have developed a cult following 😀

Cult has such a negative vibe to it. I prefer to refer to it as a group of people who blindly love the silver dial and therefore shall always feel joy and contentment in the heart.

I wonder if TAG ever got the first one back, the one that UPS 'lost'?

Hahaha doubt it! It was probably sold on ebay by some UPS criminal and is now being enjoyed by a (happily not knowing his watch was stolen) member of the Church of Silver Dials UK

Imagine sending it in for service and being told - sorry this was stolen so you're not getting it back...

What a nightmare. Thinking about it, I have not checked to see if the two I bought from a shady seller in UK were stolen 😒

I worry about this for the rare models. If my Monaco 50th or Carrera Dato were lost or stolen while being sent in for service, I don't think I'd be able to easily replace them.

Rob meant that the watch you send in for service turns out to be a stolen one i.e you own a stolen watch without knowing about it.

But yes shipping a watch is a pain and even if you have insurance and get some money, like you say the specific model might not be available...

Definitely would not get a Dato for what insurance would pay for loss.
I only ever drop my watch off to the Boutique for sending to service centre. Then it becomes their problem if it gets lost or stolen.
I'm sure the Boutique would compensate properly for a loss.

The free shipping option TH, I have used twice now for my Carrera 360 (Holland to Germany), is also with insurance but even with full MSRP compensation I would be devastated if it got lost, thought that happened recently when it went MIA for a week.

Same experience that Adam had with the lost Autavia Siffert (ping @abrod520 )

That one has not yet turned up anywhere for sale

It may not be that simple and I wouldn't rely on the boutique doing the right thing! I was also going to mention Adam's Siffert Autavia here.
