I see that after one year, this model is still available on Tag Heuer's website. I guess not all 1860 units have been sold.
On the other hand, who knows if they are truly limiting their production actually to 1860. If the watches are not individually numbered, who's to know?

I鈥檝e thought about it and there is probably indeed a hinge of truth to it if watches are not individually numbered 馃摉

Maybe after they "sell out" we could see a bump in value like the other LEs...

How do you all feel about tapered straps on the glassbox? I know the OEM strap is more of a 19-18mm taper, all my aftermarket straps so far have been 19-16mm considering I have a 16mm heuer buckle on the way. Can't decide if it feels too thin for the head of the watch 馃摉

18mm or 16mm at the clasp. Both are good to me, although 16mm probably works better with a standard buckle and 18mm better with the deployant clasp.

I prefer the taper to 16mm. It's more in keeping with the vintage style of the glassbox Carrera. I like having a pin buckle too for the same reason, although the deployant clasp is more convenient and adjustable.

I like the taper to 16mm. I had a strap made with the 19-18 taper and don't find it more appealing than the traditional taper. The 19-18mm taper I feel fits the factory clasp better for the size of the deployant. I think TH made the clasp 18mm so they could use it more across many different strap size tapers and still look ok.

Hi all, new to this forum. I have lusted after this watch since it鈥檚 release. I finally pulled the trigger yesterday and have one incoming next week. What pushed me over the top was trying to get a cs3110 and watching it sell for 4400 usd. Anyway, this thread has been very informative. I鈥檓 a brown over black guy so please share more pics of brown straps. I can鈥檛 decide between a racing strap or just a straight brown suede perhaps. Looking forward to sharing my pics soon.

Can't show you any photos on a brown strap I'm afraid, has only been on black or dark blue so far.. maybe time to switch it up!

I wear mine on a dark brown strap - not racing, but you can get an idea of the color. It works really well.

Thanks! I love this watch on brown. Now I need to find the perfect one. Torn between a racing strap which is true to the watch and some more vintage. Hodinkee makes some beautiful suede straps.

Any speculation in this thread as to why this model hasn鈥檛 sell out?

It was adored by the watch press at release. Too expensive perhaps? Seems like it went largely unnoticed but man that silver dial is gorgeous.

I think its just as simple that there is not a customer base big enough to release watches like this in such big numbers. 1860 obviously was way too many, maybe 500 pcs would've ensured that they sold all.

And yes prices are going out of hand but TAG is obviously aiming to keep increasing prices around 15-20% per year. My guess is that they want the Carrera and Monaco to be sold around or just above that sweetspot of $10 000 in a couple of years.

Simple economics would say they either made too many or it was priced too high. I only bought it because I lucked upon one at a big discount, and not because I don't love it (I do!), just that I considered it too expensive for me at the retail price.

Me too mate.. getting 30% off was what did it for me. Otherwise I would have passed.

I didn鈥檛 pay retail but I also did get anywhere close to 30 percent.
