Just read in one of DC's articles that the Heuer Monza re-issue originated under previous ownership. LVMH changed it to Tag Heuer later on. 😉

The H02 without a rotor would enable a slimmer case, manual wound as original but with a state of the art chronograph.

The Telemeter is 13,6mm thick according to online references so why is the Fragment thicker?
Movements keep getting thicker it seems

Yup, seducing the young is no easy task. As the NY Times article stated, the younger generation are into apple watches or don't even wear watches at all. Most of the Millennials I know could care less about watches. My AD also tells me, those youngsters that are well to do often aspire directly towards Rolex.

The NYT article also said TH is dropping its ties with Cara Delevigne and Alec Monopoly. I was never really sure what the Monopoly thing was all about, but I think Cara helped to draw in some of the young buyers (maybe).

I'm not sure the young is the best place to be aiming to be honest, I bought my first TAG when I was 34, and didn't start collecting until I was 46. Youngsters have too many other things to spend their money on and 20-30s are too busy paying for children and mortgages. But yeah I can well imagine they are all walking sheep-like to the Rolex 'light'.

Yes that would be awesome but probably just wishful thinking

Fragment Carrera was a Heuer 02 and was 14.5mm thick. I suspect these will be the same. It's a bit thicker than is ideal of course, but I like the tri-compax layout and the Heuer 02 column wheel movement. Better than having a Sellita in there I think.
True. I have not had the possibility to try the Fragment version, have you? I just hope that the new ones will not wear as terribly as the top heavy 41 mm calibre 16's

Just measured and my 2002 39mm Carrera is only 12,2mm. Huge difference.

To accommodate the Heuer 02 I believe. Part of the height is the glassbox crystal.

I haven't tried it on but have seen one. It definitely has presence but doesn't look too bad height wise. As I say, some of that 14.5mm is the crystal.

IIRC, the H02 Autavia is about 15mm high. Its height is one of the things that always stops me from pulling the trigger whenever I try the Viceroy on. It sits even higher than the Monaco, which is already higher than I'd like. I'm in the camp of wishful thinkers hoping for a manual wind H02 slimmer Carrera.

Now that this has been ousted, I can confirm that this is what I had been referring to on my posts, although there is the rumor of a second model. Let's see if it also gets revealed next week.

What hasn't been shown on today's news is the back. If the pictures that I saw carry on to production, this should have an open caseback with a visible in-house automatic movement. Little surprise there. The "ONE OF ####" engraving that was introduced with the Anniversary Monaco's should carry-on here. Although this Carrera's production numbers should be much more accessible, when compared to the Monaco's.

Overall I think this is a worthy limited edition to commemorate the company's 160th Anniversary and I personally am in to get one.

Wow, a lot happened overnight!

Looks nice, but it is not for me. I'm not really into the vintage look but I can see that it will probably fly off the shelves.

If i am to make a guess from the dial layout, it could be H02 movement.
Personally i think manual wound movement will suit this kind of piece better.

You don't need to guess. Read my post above.

39mm......🙁 too small for my wrists.
Classic look though, that will please many I suggest.
Hubert hints at another version, which I may have had a sneak preview at previously.
If it is the one I think it might be, it will create a bit of chatter I would say.

The cases are very similar, but some small differences to accommodate for the difference between the Calibre 18 and the Calibre Heuer 02

They may go to the light but I suspect all that happens is they get their names on a “list”?
