It’s probably just with the Carrera Silver 160 since the chapter ring (depending on lighting & angle) blends with the silver dial. All in all, the effect is to make the dial look smaller like those in the vintage Carrera. But in today’s standard, IMHO, 39mm is not big.

Usually 39-41mm is a good size for my wrist. But indeed there's something about the glassbox that makes these watches wear a little smaller, I noticed the effect when I tried on a Telemetre when it was first released.

No, it's the glassbox design. All Carreras that use it (Telemeter, Hodinkee Skipper, Rake Blue Dreamer, Fragment, and now the two 160th Anniversary editions) have the reduced visibility. I described this on my previous posts.

So this is TH equivalent of the Milky ring on Speedy's?

Wrist roll video of the Montreal on the last page of this post: https://www.instagram.com/p/CB26P0jh3vQ/

Hodinkee had a Carrera 2447N on sale and they had these profile pictures that show how different it is to the new Glassbox dome.

Omega knows not to do a heavily domed crystal when using sapphire.

Someone should make a hesalite mod for these Carreras!

I believe the dial size is the same as those on the old Carreras, or similar. There's a good couple MM on the crystal sidewall thickness and the case bezel flange. It's not perfect, but it's still pretty nice IMO.

Never gonna happen - probably because Hesalite is a term Omega made up 😝 A Plexiglas crystal, on the other hand, would be awesome!

Different effect. Glassbox has more of a glassy distortion than a milky ring. Doesn't bother some, but bugs @Hubert a lot! LOL
Plexi would be a solution, but less durable for daily wear.

Is it simply not part of the character of the watch? I’m surprised they did both with this design and not ‘one of each’. I don’t find it bothersome on the Tele18 - but there's a lot less going on on these dials so not sure it is that big a deal.

And he keeps buying more of them 😵‍💫 😵‍💫 😵‍💫 !
Yes, I have the silver on-order, but I've been holding back on the Montreal... for now. Baby steps!

Plexi is totally fine for daily wear, as long as you've developed proper habits around minding where your wrist is in relation to other hard surfaces 😜

Besides, plexi is easily polished at home using Polywatch, and if it's cracked, costs a ton less to replace than sapphire!

Good points.
My Breitling ref 806 '59 re-edition has a high domed plexi crystal. (Pic for illustration, not to distract from the Carrera.) I like plexi a lot. It adds a warmth and character to the dial that sapphire lacks. I daily wear this watch for work and at home. But for outdoor recreation or non desk job work, I feel much safer wearing sapphire. Having said that, I'd be totally fine if TH releases a heritage Carrera with plexi (and manual wind too to make it thinner).

Sure, but then I usually go for a less-valuable, more casual watch anyway. These days, a lot of vintage style can be bought for under $300, whether it's a new microbrand or an actual old cheap diver or something. Though at that point, doesn't really matter what the crystal's made of

I wear my Seiko Monster for that sort of thing. I think the crystal is "hardlex", which I think is a hard type of glass, but not quite as scratch-resistant as sapphire.

If there's any real danger of damage or scratches, then on goes the £10 Casio F91w.

What's the difference between the "new logo" vs "in between"?

well to my eyes the ‘in between’ looks more balanced. The ‘new’ one looks like it has been warped in mspaint ::stirthepot::

Probably either K1 mineral glass, or Lexan.

Even covered in clear wrap, this watch looks very pretty. Pic credit to @hawksmercedes0417 on IG.
