So.... yes, this pandemic will push online purchasing more, and as we are already seeing shops are collapsing at a worrying rate. But do we really want a world without shops? What about all the packaging that online sales creates? What about all the coffee shops and snack places that rely on proper shops to bring customers? And do you really want to buy your £50,000 Patek online?
Good points. I want to test the thing in a shop and then buy it cheaper online 🙄

But really, you know, we will moan when the shops disappear, and we have to buy all our clothes online and nothing fits properly.

I think I have already adjusted to the "future" in that sense. I buy all my clothes online, it is awesome since you dont have to go trough the pain of being in a store full of people and you get the possibility to test the clothes for a couple of days in your home. Sizes is not a problem, most online stores have free returns so I always buy 2 or 3 different sizes of each item. I typically make an order for maybe 2500 Euros and then keep stuff for approx 800-1000 Euro, just send the remaining crap back for free 👍

Be READY for the NEW NORMAL. It's not going to be easy but it is inevitable. Times like this needs adjustment and adaptation. Hopefully towards a better future for all.

Okay... so, this brings about a new dilemma. So lets say all the shops shut, all those jobs gone... along with the people working in the coffee shops and restaurants. Everyone who used to work in retail now works in a warehouse, earning less money.... all the people working for the companies renting out shops, and all the associated business with that also working in a warehouse.

Everybody earning crappy money. Who buys luxury goods? Even 'affordable' luxury goods.

Rich people will still be rich, poor people will still be poor, but (some) people in the middle who saved to buy things, will become poor(er).

Well here that argument dont add up because working in a warehouse earns you more money than working in a shop. Shops and restaurants have among the lowest salaries of all...

Yes that is probably true for those who live in shitty countries where workers have no rights and they can pay crappy salaries and fire people however they wish. Here most companies have union agreements with regulated fair minimum salaries that a person can actually live a good normal life with.

I am always thankful to live in Sweden instead of e.g America where some people even have two jobs to survive, hardly any vacation days etc. I have even heard that many people there dont even have extra pension plans payed for by their employer 🤨

Indeed, a lot of people in the UK are on Zero Hours contracts, and also the number of people who are 'self employed' yet work only for one company beggars belief. And embarassingly, that includes at least one Formula 1 team!

You kidding? It's a truly uncommon and valuable benefit if an employer does have a pension plan, outside of government jobs. The best most companies will do is match your own contribution to a retirement investment account - and even then, the limit is usually $3-5k a year.

Indeed. As a reminder, LVMH watch division is TAG Heuer, Zenith and Hublot. It does not include Bulgari, despite Bulgari being part of LVMH (i.e. JC Babin is able to do his own thing- he doesn’t report through to Bianchi)
