Three new models have arrived in stores- these images thanks to Steffans Jewellers 1. Formula 1 WAZ1018 2. Formula 1 CAZ101AB Red Bull 3. Aquaracer WAY2018 Calibre 5
Interesting blue dial on the F1 Red Bull. Seems to color shift with the lighting. But I believe I prefer the previous Red Bull version better.
I heard a rumour yesterday that something similar to the 'green' Aquaracer was coming out... I presumed perhaps a green Aquaracer chrono, but maybe they meant this brown Aquaracer? I wonder how long the Red Bull will be available for given that Aston Martin are departing at the end of the season? I find it odd that I was in a TAG Heuer boutique yesterday (albeit it is owned by Watches of Switzerland) talking to someone I've spoken to several times and they really didn't know about these watches... I am 100% sure they would have told me, but it seems like they are so behind the curve all the time. What's the point of being a TAG Heuer boutique exactly, it doesn't seem to mean anything except that they get the watches that Oxford Street can't shift. Steffans must be well in with TAG, I've noticed they are always very quick with new releases and they bought 4 Manchester United and 4 Alec Monopoly F1s, and they also have the Oxford Street Carrera in their window...
I think you need this one to pair with yours! One aspect of this new version that I like is they’ve added a touch of RedBull yellow into the color mix.
The Aston Martin title sponsorship of RBR F1 team was pre-paid for 2019/2020 and given AM being a financial wreck it was doomed to end either way after 2020 so I would be surprised if the news about Racing Stroll investing in AM would have had an impact on Tag Heuer's release of the new F1 watch. We have seen it before right, this weird silent sneaking out new models with no fuss around it....
It will be interesting to see if TAG Heuer and Aston Martin continue working together, let's not forget they made that Superleggera with TAG Heuer logos on the seats... I'm not aware that Force India have a watch partner at present, so there wouldn't seem to be any conflict there, but for this watch it really depends what the backplate says, I guess they could always change the backplate once the deal comes to an end.
Can't help thinking the brown is a bit safe, after the green one I would have liked to have seen a red dial or something... brown would seem more at home on a dress watch, not a diver... although I guess it will go nicely with a leather strap.
