First look at 2020 new models

good that it will be in available in volume too as likely to get it at a discount I expect. LE, but will be oversupplied at those numbers. As I care not about reasle I’m not focused on the cost of acquisition lol.

The view I take: TAG have finally responded to the demand for watches that hew closely to what made them great in the first place. Why not buy at full price, from a TAG boutique or their website? If we can have them all sold out at MSRP, TAG will see the business case and perhaps continue releasing models like this.

In other words, vote with your dollars!

Simply? Because I don’t think their full RRP are justified. But at 20% they are fair value. Only once did I pay full whack and that was for the Tele 18, only to see it a month later at 35% in an AD’s window. I expect heavy depreciation on Used, but you’d be mad to pay full price when market dictates that price is simply too high. I’m not talking about Gray market here. I’d personally never buy from that channel. No Carrera I own is worth £5k new. For that money I can get a Ceramic Speedy. The are £3.5 to £4k watches at best. I still love them though hence why i have 4, so I feel as if I provide ample financial support to TH and their official supply chain already.

MSRP on those is $12,000 or so. You're comparing full MSRP to grey/secondary prices.

IMO, the Carrera is worth MSRP at this point. It's got the in-house Heuer-02 rather than the Telemeter's crappy Sellita+DD microbrand-grade movement. It remains to be seen what kind of discounts are available on them after a few months or what they trade at on the secondary market, but I personally think it's worth $6,500 US.

...Of course, part of that is because I'm super impatient to get one on my wrist 😉

no read again. I already said no gray. I paid £5 and £5.7k for two out of three of the ceramic Of The Moons that I own. So yes MSRP is higher, but real BRAND NEW PRICE FROM AN AD that I paid was far far less. The market is what the market pays? Not fanciful MSRP.

EXperience may very, but that’s mine.

I’ll bet that I will pick up the h02 for <20% off. Probably a lot more. Simples. I already got one of my ADs on the case. They know I’ll not even discuss a watch with less that 15% off.

I think I got about 10% off when I bought a AR for my wife at an AD, would expect more on a higher value watch, as the margin will be higher.

I hadn't realised that ceramic speedys are so reasonable, I tried I on a deep black seamaster, but it's going to have to be used, given theyre about £8.5k new!

With Patek and Rolex apparently holding all their new releases over until 2021, do we think TAG Heuer will do the same? Imagine if this would have happened last year with the whole Monaco thing running through the year...

I don't think it's clear yet. Last I spoke to TAG Heuer, they were still working through the 2020 launch plan. No question that some model will be pushed back, but others look like they will arrive (e.g. the Carrera 160th). I'd assume that this is all based on things returning to "normal" over the coming weeks- at the moment, the offices and the factory are closed, with people working reduced hours from home.

Yeah I'm sure the ones that have been announced will arrive, but it does seem a little bit pointless (and perhaps a bit tasteless) to start announcing new stuff when the world has other things on it's mind and the ADs are all shut.

It's a delicate balance. I'm sure the ADs that are still selling online are very keen for the stock to keep their businesses moving. Likewise, there are brands like Patek who for the first time are allowing online sales.

But I agree with you 100% that the brands need to be very careful about pushing luxury/ lifestyle in a time when there is a global healthcare crisis. So far, the watch brands and luxury groups are highly attuned to the public sentiment and I hope that continues.

The only way they'll be delivered is if they've already been manufactured - unless somehow they're still in production? Is Switzerland not locked down to essential businesses like others?

You'd think so, after all doesn't Switzerland have the highest percentage of cases per capita?

It'd be very tempting at 39mm, almost like an edgier GMT Royal Oak. They look huge in person though at 43
