I got a response from a person with the title of Resolution Specialist from Tag in the LVMH Watch & Jewelry USA, New Jersey office with the following guidance...This was Monday Sept 9th.
The program is now limited to just the Calibre 5 Mechanical Watch exchange...no other options exist anymore.

I am Canadian and this is the new pamphlet that they are using to market the program to their dealer network. See the image below. The same applies to all US dealers (cause I asked what happens if I go to the states and do the switch there).
Timelines, I was told will be near the end of October to Mid-November to expect the new watch to arrive....good news, I don't have to send in my Connected watch until they get in touch with me that my watch has arrived. I also will not be charged anything until that time.
SO I am about to embark on the journey to make the switch!!!!

My Question to the forum....anyone know if the strap from the Connected is interchangeable with the Calibre 5 Mechanical???
I sprung an additional amount way back to get the Tan Leather strap and wanted to know if I can keep it and use it with the Mechanical 46MM.
From the pics I have seen it looks like its a possibility, but I have not confirmed this myself since I've not been able to see the Mechanical watch in person? Any guidance will be much appreciated.

It’s strange, because the picture in the pamphlet shows the Carrera Calibre 5 mechanical module 45mm (AWBF2A80, Modular system), not the SAR2A80.FT6049 46mm... and for sure the straps from the Modular 45 system are not compatible with the 46mm first gen Connected. But maybe is just a mistake with the picture...

This is the Modular 45 you can see in the pamphlet:

And this is the 46 mm:

My recollection is that the 46mm Calibre 5 exchange module will not fit the 45mm Connected Modular straps.

I thought the 1st generation Connected was a 46MM? (I don't have my box and paperwork in front of me at the office to confirm this, will check later this evening)
If the exchange mechanical watch is also a 46MM, I would imagine then it is a possibility, No??
Based on pics it looks like position of the lugs on the Connected and the mechanical watch are very similar in shape.

Yes, the 1st generation Connected was 46mm, and the first exchange mechanical watch was also 46mm... BUT in the pamphlet you attached, the mechanical watch on the picture is the Modular mechanical watch 45mm from the 2nd generation (but the name and reference number in the pamphlet is from the first gen). In my previous post I attached pictures of both versions.

So there is a mistake in the pamphlet: in the picture or in the text/reference number. If you receive the watch like in the picture (the Modular 45 mm) for sure the straps will be not compatible with the 46mm, but lf you receive the watch like in the text (the 46mm), then there’s a possibility

Another question.
Anyone know what they do with the Connected watches?
Why spend all this money in shipping costs to retrieve the old watches?
Most likely they will be collecting the rare earth metals on the circuitry and the titanium on the lugs and all but I cant imagine there is much value in those (given the amount) which wont be eroded after this whole exchange process and shipping costs are factored in.
Wondering if anyone has any insights?
When I spoke to the Resolution Specialist at Tag, I asked him about this and he had no idea (or he did and didn't want to tell me)
I even offered to pay a premium to keep my Connected as well while still getting the mechanical watch and he told me they cant do that.

For anyone who is thinking they will continue to hold on to their Connected (as I really want to cause it is still functioning great) until technical support for the watch stops through Android and iOS, keep in mind that he told me there will be a finite period for which they will be making the Calibre 5 mechanical exchange watch and once that stops you may be SOL and stuck with a non-functioning smartwatch.
He said he has no idea when that could be, but just like the poorly communicated exchange program with the modular which has now been discontinued, this option may disappear as well.

Ahhh I see, I honestly couldn't tell the difference from the pictures you had posted. They both looked exactly the same to me, so thank you for clarifying.

👍

Maybe you can see better the difference in these two pictures, because the main difference is where the strap joins the head. Also the TAG Heuer logo is more far from the markers in the 45mm

This is the Modular 45mm:

And this is the exchange mechanical 46mm:

I think I have answered this question before and the answer is no; I don't believe that the straps of the Connected 46 and the mechanical replacement Carrera 46 are interchangeable. The reason is because the Connected 46 has a trapezoid cap, extension of the bezel in between the lower lugs (the screen drivers' cover), whereas the upper part of the bezel is conventionally round. Thus the two strap pieces are asymmetrical. On the contrary, the mechanical watch has no need for trapeze screen driver covers, the bezel is all around symmetrical and thus the two strap parts are also symmetrical.

Just been in and paid the £1100 now just to wait on its arrival and decide if I am keeping it or selling it for an Omega Seamaster

Did the trade-in about 3 weeks ago and paid the £1100 handing over the Connected (original) with packaging. Was told it was likely to be in November when the Calibre 5 new stocks were ready for shipping back out to the trade-in jewellers. Waiting for an update on timings...

it’s a shambles - pretty much now 100% sure I am going to sell mine as this has been enough to put me off Tag for the foreseeable future
