What does "N" mean? "No chance", "None", or something like that?
That’s a very unfortunate and unintended typo..sorry, didn’t even know I had quoted you!

I expect there will be some movement/ give it a week or two and I reckon it will firm after that

Same here. First came the TH Carrera (black+rose gold CAR2014) in June 2016, then a TH Carrera re-edition (CV-2111) in Aug 2016, then a Heuer diver (980.021) off eBay and restored by the immortal James Hyman in early 2017, then a gold Heuer Camaro 73345 franken (bonehead mistake) in May 2017, then a mint Heuer Autavia 1163 with MH bezel + red cigar box, papers, with sticker on back (victory!) in Nov 2017.

Sold the TH CAR2014 last month, and was dying to pick up the Calibre11 collector's edition, but my marriage might've been on the line if I bought another watch.

So after jumping on the Heuer train last Xmas by buying a Montreal I've moved on to a mint TH1000 diver and now this stunning JS Autavia. Oh and that rowing chrono also came in today... What is happening to me?

We have some work to do. 😡

https://www.forbes.com/sites/carolb...he-cappuccino-speedy-is-next-up/#3d1a01644fb2

It took a mere four hours and fifteen minutes for Omega to sell 2,012 limited-edition “#speedytuesday” watches last week that were offered exclusively on Instagram. The special-edition Speedmaster, the hero of the brand’s iconic collection, was geared to a group of devotees that follow the #speedytuesday hashtag, created by watch enthusiast Robert-Jan Broer of the Fratello Watches blog. The number of pieces produced is a tribute to the year 2012, when Broer started the #speedytuesday hashtag. The response was so immediate that Omega stopped promoting the watch on Instagram shortly after the campaign was launched. It was the first Omega watch officially sold online. The price was $6,500.

Importantly, note that Omega advertised and sold the Speedy Tuesday edition on their website. TAG Heuer didn't do the same.

And Omega still haven't finished delivering their watches, and their production has been mired with quality problems. No thanks!

it is not the same to make 2,000 watches of new design, that 100 almost identical to an existing model

Oh come off it! How may Speedmasters to Omega make every year?

And stop having digs at the Calibre 11 edition. You don't like it and that is fine. Nobody forced you to buy one so let it lie.

New design? It has a different dial, and different engraving on the back?! If there ever was an existing model is in the 42mm Speedmaster that has looked more or less the same for over 50 years. I think only the Reverso and the Submariner can compete with a more timeless design.

It’s not confirmed that there are any undelivered Speedy Tuesday units at this point, and there were only a few isolated quality issues.

The Speedy Tuesday does incorporate some very different parts than a regular-production Speedmaster Pro - the brushed case alone is a whole other thing to deal with. Not to put the C11 LE down, but it’s just a dial / hands color difference compared with the existing Autavia lineup.

I don't want to hijack the thread but why isn't it confirmed? I had mine delivered after Christmas, after 5 emails of excuses and 6 months of delay, only to have defects to the dial and Omega had to take it back. It is now back to waiting again.

Don't forget the caseback, strap, and presentation box. 😉

Again, the key point is that Omega advertised and sold the Speedy Tuesday Limited Edition directly from its website. TAG Heuer did not do the same.

What I meant is that nobody seems to still be waiting for the initial delivery at this point - and then there are some units, like yours, that have been delivered with quality issues. That sucks and Omega certainly hasn't had the greatest track record with regard to delivery timeframes lately, but those tend to affect the limited edition watches that are the furthest from the standard model. Notably the Silver Snoopy and its "space dust" caseback... but I wouldn't extrapolate those issues to the rest of their lineup.

Don't forget the caseback, strap, and presentation box. 😉

Right, but all still re-mixes of off-the-shelf parts. No new parts, just paint. Again, not trying to put it down, but let's be honest with each other.

I see what you're saying, that wasn't what I was referring to.

Sure, we get what you're saying, but technically speaking the strap is indeed a "new" part. The presentation box is also "new"; no other watch shares the dividing compartment and the finish. The closest was the 40th Anniversary Monaco, but no where near this nice. In any case, your point is well taken.

People say TAG make too many special editions, but Omega... man they take the biscuit. First Man on the Moon, Last Man on the Moon, Dark Side of the Moon, Grey Side of the Moon, White Side of the Moon, The Man in the Moon, Brown Side of the Moon, Apollo and Dionysus on the Moon, Shine on Harvey Moon... what a pity they came to party too late to make a Moonraker tie in!

Interesting fact, who was on the board of Omega when they decided to 'BUY' the James Bond watch sponsorship deal?

Jean Claude Biver.

He set the precedent and trend. Can't blame them for sticking to a formula that works, right? 😉

My 2 cents: I really don’t care how quickly it sold out. I planned on it not selling out yesterday, but of course I had hoped that it would by the time it’s ready to be sent in late March. Calibre 11 is not Hodinkee...so I never expected to move units as fast as they do.

In addition, while Heuer and TAG Heuer collectors know of Jo Siffert, general watch lovers probably know him far less.

Yes, I could have changed a lot more- ceramic bezel? Revised case finishing? All possible...but then we’d be looking at prices closer to the Ronnie Peterson Carrera re-edition, i.e. much closer to US$10k. How many people would buy a $10k Autavia?

The idea for this came from me, not from TAG Heuer- and there is a final key difference. In this case, TAG Heuer were clear that this was my project. I had to buy them watches from them. I had to take care of the logistics for distribution, the sales and the marketing. They were happy to “support” through social..but they would not drive the marketing. Now think about Speedy Tuesday- Omega owned the watch and controlled the distribution and marketing- RJ didn’t buy the watches.

In short, Omega drove Speedy Tuesday (I’m not underplaying Fratello and RJ’s role- he blazed the trail and deserves huge kudos), whereas Calibre 11 drove the Siffert..not TAG Heuer.

This is the key point for me. I was geared up to see a siffert based on the Peterson reedition that I could salivate over but couldn't afford/justify. So you got it right for me. Well done.

Are you going to start selling the overalls too?
