Auction Discussion- Vintage Heuer

Hi, hoping to hear some thoughts on my father's watch. He used wear it regularly since he bought it in 1977 but stopped at some point in the 90s and it's been in a drawer since.

Watch is a Heuer Incabloc, which still works, but does need one of the pushers replaced (which potentially you can't get any longer given it's age). Strap is showing signs of age and I imagine would need replaced, but again would love any thoughts on whether doing so was a mistake.

This is a ref. 1589 B. The pusher will be tough to replace but you could always take it to a watchmaker who can search around for one that will fit.

The strap is not original (meaning your father replaced it at some point) so you can feel free to replace it yourself without worry.

It's got quite some patina on it, for instance that orange chronograph hand would originally have been a rich red!

Thanks, that's great to know. He definitely bought it to wear so not a surprise. I'll see about getting it cleaned up.

Jeez these were going at around 10k a few years back. No box or paperwork but still…

Wow, impressive indeed. I better hold on to my pair of Niki & James!
I thought of you right away when I saw this.
Nice little investment

The pair that sold isn't even in great condition, James has a dent in it and Niki has a crack/split in the helmet. Yet the auction result is almost triple the amount I paid for mine. That's better appreciation than my Rolex Sub. LOL

I was outbidded on this Beyer signed Carrera 3647. even though it needed a new crystal and crown, kicking myself for not going a bit higher. With BP, it sold for $5800 USD...

Missed that one. Market must be very slow. Which auction house was it?

This should go much higher (especially if Ryan Gosling discovers it…), no?
