That Celesté Allugator one looks excellent.

I want to like this piece, but it’s just not doing it for me, sadly.
Same here. Any specific reason?

I am not a full on vintage fan, so already it’s a tough sell. My first sight of the Hodinkee Skipper with orange strap, posted here in the WRUW thread did perk interest a lot though. That is just lovely.

The new glassbox style release just isn’t doing it for me. Too small and the design doesn’t draw me. The Skipper is better, I must admit, but still not grabbing me.

I would be happy to be proven wrong, when I actually get to see one IRL, but sadly I think I know how I will feel.

Just noticed the Skipper is available again to ADD TO CART on the US TAG website.

FYI for anyone who missed out at launch and is looking for one.

same.

for me it’s the weird bezel under glass thing and the running seconds.

Yes. 39mm isn't that small, I don't understand why the new glassbox feels so damned small.

I hear you. Let's see how the larger glassbox case compares, when it releases with some of the upcoming Carreras

Because the dial opening is a lot smaller than 39mm

I think it's more to do with the case shape and the glass going right to the edge, in theory it should wear larger because there is almost no bezel (outside the glass) and the bezel is the same colour as the dial. I have smaller watches that wear bigger, and 39mm watches that wear much bigger. It's a long time since I tried it on, but I remember just being so shocked how small it seemed for a 'reasonable' sized watch.

When I compare the Skipper to my other 6 39mm Glassbox Carrera's it feels larger than a 39.

Oh really. Well that's odd. It feels way smaller to me than say a 39mm 2000.

I am absolutely loving this watch. I managed to acquire two examples. One for me and one for a friend (who had to back out at the last minute leaving me with an extra). Mine hasn’t left my wrist. The unworn example is going to end up in someone’s hands at under MSRP and make them very happy. What a great timepiece.

Great pic..
Is this the original strap? I've never seen white stitching on any of these.

Yes, this was my experience also. I wear lots of 39’s and admittedly it was a bloody hot day but I felt it wore small (on me). Maybe I need to try it again….

Popped into the Boutique today. They sold the Skipper they had only yesterday.

Looking at the standard Black and Blue models, they still look tiny to me.

From 2020, a custom Bamford, beating TAG at its own game. This would've been an interesting release. Monaskipper? Skipperaco?
