Still 2 available in Australia.
From 40 pieces allocated.
I would expect they will be sold out here within a week I'm guessing.

BPSmith spreading antiTAG propaganda again馃槻
Not my intention, just intrigued by the hype and how this varies across models. I guess it does suggest that if it only had Heuer on the dial then it might have already sold out perhaps. Or is it more to do with the fact that it鈥檚 not built on the best base to start with?

Must be the logo because 'everyone' loves the watch itself.

Certainly a different story in the UK that鈥檚 for sure.

Or maybe 'everyone' loves it until they see the price?

Definitely price is a factor.
But remember Australia is a huge market for Tag Heuer. For a country of 26M to have the number 1 and 3 Boutique in the world is crazy.

Just received my second email from TH trying to sell the Skipper. They are still available on the website.

Can we therefore assume that this isn鈥檛 selling as expected?
I don't think you can make that assumption. The Skipper is part of the core catalog, rather than being a Limited Edition or Special Edition, so they are trying to sell an unlimited number of the watches. I expect that these mail messages are part of a routine campaign, and do not reflect the strength or weakness of demand for the new Skipper. Patek Philippe and Rolex continue to advertise (and build their brands) even when watches are unobtainable . . . I suspect that TAG Heuer will continue campaigns for the Skipper, regardless of whether it is selling well or poorly at a particular moment.

I remember when the Panda was released in January it was sold out nearly immediately.
Marketing campaigns continued up until March for that Model.
People were still asking at Boutiques if they could buy one into April.

That鈥檚 fair enough. I was merely asking the question as this was the second email I have received to the same address, which is different to the norm.

The irony being that Andrew always rips into George on About Effing Time, when he鈥檚 pro TH.

It's currently no longer available via the US website, it was at launch.

I've noticed several instances now where the UK has lagged behind the rest of the world in sales. I first noticed the trend with the Carrera x Porsche RS2.7 (blue), gone immediately at release in most markets (it never even showed as "Add To Cart" on the US website), but available in the UK for well over a month or two. Same trend with the 60th Anniversary Carrera. Now perhaps the Carrera Skipper too?

The Skipper isn't a LE, but I've heard only 1200 will be available this year worldwide. After that allocation is gone, one has to wait until 2024 for the next batch to be released.

It is interesting seeing these trends. Amazing how it differs across the globe, but then perhaps not, when considering the current high levels of inflation which the UK appears to be fighting vs the rest the world.

The fact that Australia got an allocation of 40 says a lot about the strength and importance of this market to TAG Heuer. I was told by a TH exec that the US is their largest market and we only got an allocation of 50. OZ is definitely punching way above its weight considering the size of the population.

It would be interesting to know the allocations given to other countries for comparison.

could anyone (or any two people) have said less in 9 minutes and 30 seconds?

These youtube reviews are a dime a dozen. The title is a great prelude of the quality entertainment that awaits beyond the bait click.

if Australia already sold 38 then that鈥檚 a good sign. These aren鈥檛 your everyday Carreras. Spending close to 7k on a watch with limited wearability isn鈥檛 that straightforward. We might all love it but chronographs with light blue and orange dials aren鈥檛 exactly topping the sales charts.
The choice of the TAG Heuer badge is in line with their strategy and the Skipper was probably a good reference to try it. I would have liked a Skipper only dial though. More than enough Carreras in the line-up and in my collection for that matter.

The acid test will not be the sales of the Skipper but the sales of the glassboxes in general. I expect the 39mm won鈥檛 perform as expected but would like to be proven wrong. I really like the visual play of the new bezel and crystal but it seems a bit crowded and lost on the 39mm. It wears quite a bit smaller than the 60th and you feel the thickness more. The glassbox design really works on the 42mm however. The new 42mm in the old case looks terribly dated compared to the tourbillon. I hope they鈥檒l launch a standard range of 42mm glassboxes next. These might sell very well. Nothing remotely similar out there.

I noticed today T&T had to disable comments on their post about Swatch Group having their LBGTQ Watches seized in Malaysia.

Not sure what they expected really.
Stay in your own lane and just cover Watches. Forget about trying to be the Social Justice Police.
