Overall it's a good addition. Of course I would have loved a more faithful heritage edition, but we'll need to settle with this.

I'm OK the blue they chose (even if doesn't match the original blue of the Skipper), but I strongly dislike the seconds-markers, and 🤮their patchy concave bezel (pictured below).
I think it's the swoopy patchy bezel that makes me a bit hesitant to pull the trigger on this and the new glassboxes in general. Nevertheless, I think the overall watch is very nice. Happy for everyone who gets one, just don't know if it's for me.

Not bad on a mesh bracelet, not bad at all. Pic credit @dialdaily
I agree. Saw it earlier and liked it.

I think this new Skipper looks pretty cool, but given my fetish for white minute tracks I’m pretty disappointed they didn’t include this…the dial really pops on the original as a result.

From that video I noticed that Nicholas Pic, TAG Heuer VP of North America, was there. (Who coincidently sort of looks like Nicholas Biebuyck.)

Yep, was good to see Nicholas again (and the first time I met him, I did mistake him for Biebuyck lol). Really nice guy, always a pleasure chatting.

Oh I actually like the bezel execution on this one, I think the larger 5-minute markers really bring out the design.

This looks great.
I think this Skipper would also look great on a NATO.

He's taken some of the nicest pics of the watch on social media (IMHO). Good stuff. 👍

He must get that a lot. But in fairness to Nicholas Pic, he's been with TAG Heuer longer than Biebuyck. Here's a shot of Pic with Alec Monopoly back in 2019. I agree, he is a very nice guy and easy to chat with.

It's not the outer minute track that bothers me, I think it looks good, although I would've preferred it in white.

It's the inner concave part, I believe this is what @Hubert was referring to in his pic.

I'm not sure if it's an optical illusion, but the sunken curve appears to sit a little lower than the dial itself. This isn't as evident on the reverse panda or standard blue dial, since the minute markers are on the concave slope on those.

I have no clue whether this will work (on a technical level) or whether it is generally permitted under Forum rules, but here is my Instagram story covering the TAG Heuer event in NYC this past Wednesday evening -- https://www.instagram.com/stories/on_the_dash/3148226480390809762/

I'll be writing more about the new Skipper, but this story covers the amazing TAG Heuer event in NYC.

Jeff
Thanks for sharing Jeff! Very enjoyable.

The traditional dial sits at the base. Then they added a concave piece on top of the dial that looks "patchy". This piece closes the gap between the dial and the bezel-ring (pictured on the left) when both are assembled. I fully recognize that the raised-bezel ring is used to eliminate the milky-ring effect of the sapphire glassbox crystal. However, my key criticism is on how "patchy" this concave ring looks; it's not the same material as the dial and it just cheapens to whole execution.

Interesting… I wonder why TH resorted to that solution when they could have just fitted a bowl-shaped dial 👎 Even microbrands (like Direnzo) master the usage of such dials (when there’s no change in material needed) for comparatively little money:

Just received my second email from TH trying to sell the Skipper. They are still available on the website.

Can we therefore assume that this isn’t selling as expected?
