I'll pay double for the original 1158 before I buy this one. Both will never happen. It's not bad though. Usual issues with this Carrera reference but the clean look blurs it out somewhat. Looks hella shiny, great way to draw attention to yourself. No mention of JH on the watch or in the IG post, yet they organize a photo shoot. What's up with all this? Maybe ol' Jack said no way you're linking my name to that thing. Or there's something Heuer only coming?

To be honest, part of the reason why I didn't think this was the JH90 in the first place was it didn't feel special enough, just basically a redone JH88, now it seems Abrod might have been right all along...

They do honour the chairman in their stories

Call me suspicious but although I’m convinced the concept originated on the back of Jack’s 90th birthday, young Arnault stepped in. Jack’s last name is not TAG Heuer and no one cares about old F1 Heuer links anymore. Lauda who? Now it’s just a fancy golden TAG Heuer Carrera. Next

So they can market it at rap stars instead of (as as well as) old men?

I'm kind of inclined to agree here actually. All it is is a gold version of the same old 42 Elegant, no other changes - no extra vintage touches or anything. I think they just wheel Jack out for anything expensive that's not intended for the Miami set

That's has been my thinking all along. Maybe there's hope for a dedicated JH90 after all.

It's a nice watch. But the 1158 CHN, shown below as its reflection, looks so much better IMHO. If I ever decide to drop seriously big cash on a watch, an original 1158 CHN would be the one.

Mmm, will it be that shiny in real life without picture mods? Nice enough but not at that price, and it says Tag Heuer.

Unlikely, as we're so close to his birthday. But who knows, there could be a surprise. A gold dial with black subdials would be more fitting as a real JH90 IMHO. Jack often stated that the 1158CHN was his favorite Carrera. Seeing this black dial inverted tribute only makes me want an original more.

What is the "Miami set"?

Also, I think this watch should simply be considered as an improved fifth iteration of the modern 42mm H02 Carrera and a foreshadowing of (TH, not Heuer) things to come. Any other attitude is probably just going to result in frustration...

^Jack doesn't look very happy in that pic. Maybe he doesn't like the watch or that it doesn't have an official "JH90" marking on it?

He looks much happier here in these JH88 pics.
