Maybe they'll re-release the 50th Anniversary Gulf Edition and just change the car image on the back from a GT40 to a 917K 😉
That's no fun! I can hear all the critics saying how lazy an effort by TH for such an important milestone. 😜

My AD told me today they already received the window displays of next year’s releases.

Huh meanwhile the new Aquaracer lineup won't be available in stores for another month, I'm told. And not til September for the 844 edition 😲

It's the universe telling you to buy something actually special, instead. Like a Monaco! 😉

I guess they’re shipping out the fittings well in time 😁

Yes from the ‘70s! Or the ‘60s if you can afford it 😉

Hah. In all honesty if I had $8k burning a hole in my pocket I'd probably have bought this one. But on the other side of that, an $8k watch with this grade of movement isn't something I'm gonna stretch for

An original Heuer Monaco perhaps, but not a 1133B or have prices dropped?

No Mcqueen most probably but you could get lucky. A 1133G might be possible. Looks better anyway 🍿

I've been thinking my next watch should be a vintage piece, since the re-editions are about the same price. But it's very daunting and scary to buy such expensive items over the internet, and not that easy to find locally in person.

While I love the Monaco, I really don’t feel that you get your money's worth here (Cal.11, after all).

IMHO, this one should at least be in Ti Grade 5 and with a more elaborate case finish to vaguely justify its price tag.
Couldn't agree more. Price here for this new Monaco is 87 250 SEK, which is about $10 500...

That's 1533 price territory, these days.

Yeah, probably an OK 1133G at best. Reason I like this modern one though is the titanium case, which you can't get with the original

Here is my take on the new Titan:

Overall, I really like it. It adds a fresh new look to a tried-and-true formula. It feels somehow familiar and brand new, all at the same time. It's not something I'll be pursuing, but I'm glad to see TAG Heuer isn't totally giving up on the Calibre 11.

3 things I Like:
1. That silver dial looks amazing. It looks like a highly-finished piece of machined metal, even though it isn't.
2. I love that they've stuck with the basic setup that made the Monaco special in the first place - crown at 9, horizontal indices and Calibre 11 movement (even though we all know it isn't really THE Calibre 11).
3. Those pops of red just really stand out and bring a lot of visual drama to a package that otherwise really flies under the radar

3 things that I dislike:
1.
I don't love that the case is entirely sandblasted. I think the combination of brushed and polished surfaces on the stainless steel Monacos give the case a ton of depth and really make it stand out. This one being completely sandblasted just comes across (in photos at least) as kind of dull and bland.
2. I don't like the stainless/polished subdial hands against the black subdials. This is very similar (if not identical) to the execution of CAW211B - the Calibre 11 "Vintage Edition", and many complained that the hands of the subdials kind of just get lost and are hard to read. It looks like a similar situation, here. I'd prefer them to have been white or red.
3. I don't love the strap. Monaco has been synonymous with the Racing-style strap, and I wish they'd have stuck to that ethos here. Luckily, that is something that can be easily remedied.

Tried it on yesterday. It's really nice, if ultimately still not quite for me. I'm just not much of a silver dial person, and it takes a truly exquisite silver dial to grab me - hence, the 160. This one is a lot more "ice queen" silver, than the 160's warmer tone.

The case is really fun, it's slightly textured so that it's not fully matte. There's a very subtle sparkle effect, but overall the Monaco feels great in titanium.

Officially, it's the "Le Mans" edition according to the little plaque in the box, though that race is still a month away...

What I will say though, is that I'm still thinking about it a day later. A success, in my opinion! Not for me today, but who knows - maybe I'll find myself hunting one down in the years to come.

Looks great in a real photo.... why are they so useless that they would put that on the box but make no mention of it elsewhere?

Right!? Apparently nothing in the press kits that went out to the media. No mention in DC's article or any others that I've read yet about this being a "Le Mans Edition". I want to see what this plaque looks like now.

It's an almost perfect combination of a traditional design with modern materials. I am happy, that the Calibre 11 movement is kept alive! I wonder if they considered combining this Titanium case with a light asphalt dial, like on the 1989-1999 Special Edition.

Written by someone who clearly doesn't know what they're talking about.

Written by someone who supposedly should know much better! It's a pathetic piece of so-called journalism, to be frank.
