Frederic Arnault has teased doing an Ed-White Speedmaster-esque "New" exact reproduction Calibre 11. I wonder, if at some point, that watch might replace today's Calibre 11, and then the existing blue version could be discontinued, and the Cal 11, would only be a very special edition.

It's always seemed like they gave us the Cal 11 and Cal 12 at roughly the same price because they didn't want the watches to 'compete', it was just a choice of finishes and logos. If they did what you suggest and make the Cal 11 more expensive than the Heuer 02 then they would be competing. It could work, if people are prepared to pay for 'Heuer' branding... but I could more imagine this is a LE.
When you look at the hype there was for the Ed White Speedmaster re-issue, I think something similar could happen here. Whether it's limited, or not, it would be the truest representation of what a Monaco is, and it would house THE movement that became the legend. I think a lot of people would pay a premium for that - especially if the case and pushers also carried period correct elements, too.
If they are going to go for it they need to do the round pushers otherwise it's going to be half arsed...
It would be a very anti TAG Heuer move and one I wouldn’t support. The originals are out there, just buy those. An exact copy would still be a copy and contrary to TAG Heuers philosophy. The Ed White copy might scratch an itch for a while but it won’t last. Pretty sad decision by Omega imo. I don’t see Porsche launching re-editions of their classics anytime soon. Inspired yes, in new models, like the Speedster editions of the 911. But a 356 Speedster re-editon, hell no.
