Ok, so my thoughts:

I really like this Super Mario Limited Edition 😀... the pity is that it was made with the current Connected 3rd generation, and not with the 2nd generation Modular 45. Had it been done with the Gen2 Modular 45, without a doubt I would have tried to buy it... but the Gen3, made in China and not Modular, I am not interested... not even in this LE, which I liked.

I think that its black leather strap with red rubber base is the best strap ever made for Gen3 at the moment (which doesn't have as much strap variety or quality as Gen2 Modular 45 😉). Until now there was a black strap with red stitching available for Gen3, but it is made of rubber pretending to be leather 😵‍💫... this one from the Super Mario LE is much better. 👍

It is a more elaborate Limited/Special Edition than usual, being specific: bezel, buckle, strap, crown, pushbuttons, and dial, in addition to the watch box. Of Gen2 Modular 45, only the Kingsman Special Edition included so many specific elements. 👍

I would have liked this LE much more if they had used the black titanium Gen3 as a base, and it would have better justified the price, which is still too high for a steel version made in China, compared to what the Gen2 Modular 45 Special/Limited Editions cost, which are all titanium and Swiss Made.

In any case, TAG Heuer has sold its 2000 units in a very short time, so congratulations on the project, which has been a success! 👍

<snip>

Well articulated and couldn't agree more - I continue to lament their decision not to continue Modular 45, at the same time holding on to the hope that (given the success of the Mario edition Connected 3 - even if a good portion were scalped) they will consider further gaming tie-ins (particularly a Legend of Zelda Link series watch).

Thank you for your comprehensive analysis and insightful first impression sir @Albert-AMG 👍 Mostly positive I would say 😉 I appreciate your thoughts! I guess TAG Heuer deserves a tap at the back! Kudos! 😀

Even though I would never buy a smartwatch in a million years, I do think this looks quite smart - the only thing is the 'crown' looks a bit small to me.

Met a guy last week when partying, he aint into watches. He had heard about "that Mario watch from that Tag brand". I rarely see real life people react and talk about watch releases, guess it sort of speaks to the fact that this release caught the attention of a lot of people, majority maybe casual fans not really into watches otherwise.

Why do I imagine this being spoken in a Southern drawl?

Me in Bicester Village tonight, someone walks in the door, walks straight up the security guard and asks 'have you got the Mario watch'?😁

Hehe. What did they reply? "No sorry, we only get the old stock noone wants"

When I think about it though. Isn't all of BV full of outlets? In other words, stores selling only what people didn't want in the ordinary boutiques. Why would anyone think the new Mario watch would be available. And why would you ask the scary security guard whose sole purpose and job is to stare at customers and make them feel like criminals just by walking into the store.

He just sort of shrugged and muttered something in Romanian.

Clearly not since I got my WAY208C there and everybody wants that. Also they have the camo Aquaracer which is ultra desirable.

Just dumb kids I guess!

These days, there are products specifically made for outlets. It's huge business. Generally where the actual product would be hand-made in Europe with higher-quality materials, the outlet versions look similar but are mass-produced in cheaper markets with cheaper materials. This is mostly practiced by fashion apparel companies so I'm not sure what TAG does with theirs... but a friend of mine bought a silver dial Calibre 1887 Carrera ref CAR2111 from an outlet, except his was reference CAR2111-0 according to the caseback.

Ah yes I have read about this. Just a big scam a lot of it, as with so many things in this world.

I have stopped buying "luxury" clothing after reading the eye opening book 'Deluxe: How Luxury Lost Its Luster' by Dana Thomas that Rob sent me for Christmas. When you learn how "luxury" clothing industry works, you no longer want to be the retarded fool paying expensive money for it.

There's a designer outlet fairly near me in Ashford, Kent. So many designer shops, all selling well-known brands, but they are thin material, poor quality clothing. Nothing like their "full price" stuff. I went there once and didn't buy a thing.

Most people seem oblivious to it, though. I guess if you've never paid full price for the real thing, then you may not know the difference.

They did make a Carrera for the outlet which had printed hour markers, but generally the stuff is legit - unless you believe they are making knock off carbon Aquaracers and SLRs? 😉
