I don’t think it makes sense to have the lumed bezel on the 844 not the night diver.
That I agree with completely, doesn't make it a flaw on the 844 though 😜

Managed a quick flyby to Tag with my partner, pre seeing The Batman. Was more to see if she liked the new ladies Carrera's (which she does) but the 29mm to small and 36mm to large.

Also managed to look at the new blue Aquaracer Professional 200m.

First impressions I didn't realise how black the outer part of the dial was (thought dark blue). Fits very nice and looked great, also nice finish. Couldn't turn the bezel as all wrapped.

Partner liked it, & didn't say too similar to the BB58, she still prefers the Omega Speedy (& still hates the Monaco 🤬 ). Still not keen on the PCLs nor clasp mind you.

Had a second look at the Night Diver. Toying with the idea of getting one to pair with my 80's original.

Also tried on this little number, just to make our silver zealot @Jim Dollares happy. 😀

Thanks it's that damn 40mm size (Rolex knew what they were doing).

It's a strong contender, if I could get a OEM rubber strap or the Aquaracer 36mm bracelet to fit it would be on point.

That silver is nice (just my aversion to quartz)

I've seen a couple of Night Divers go for just over $2k US on the secondary market... very tempting at that price!

Have not seen one in the displays lately though so maybe they're popular.

At 2k, I'd be quite tempted too. At list price, it's hard for me to justify. The Night Diver and 844 tribute are my favorites of the current 43mm line up. But 43mm is about my max size limit and I have to really lust after a watch to go that large.

I wanted to take a second look at the blue 40mm too, but there wasn't one in the store I visited. That one is more my size and I really like the look.👍

Are you the "novice collector", "enthusiast collector" or "super collector"?

I thought this was an interesting video review of the 40mm Aquaracer. I could definitely relate to the historical context, as my watch purchases in the '80s & '90s were exclusively TAG Heuer.

Them dinky dinks make a giant deal about a 40mm Aquaracer. They need to do some proper research to learn that there was a 41mm Aquaracer avaialable in the previous generation. 1mm aint that much of a big deal?

smaller sweet spot <= 40mm
41mm => med to large
Plus, this new 40mm has just the right mix of retro and modern, I like them. 👍

Yeah yeah not saying them 40's aint good, agree completely they be totally nice! Just felt misleading and incorrect to basically give the impression that the Aquaracers were only 43mm for so so long

Never let the facts get in the way of a good story

The 41s were never that popular & Tag pushed the 43mm more.

I'd say the difference between 1mm can mean a lot on a watch.

Nevertheless enjoyed the video from 'dink was a refreshing change from the usual W.O.T.W, did come slightly across as a sales pitch (but they are a business after all).

They made a point on the adjustment on the bracelet (now I know it doesnt have the modern glide mech from the Aquaracer) does anyone know what this version is?

Still considering one & with discount think a good watch. My local AD is getting a Monaco in for me to view and spend time with, plus this and the Speedy - looking forward to this

Yes another totally misleading point from Hodinkee, that Danny guy makes it sound as if the clasp has a on the go micro adjustment but what it has is that classical pop open diver kind of extension that gives an extra 5mm or so

That's a shame and sucks very much!

Bracelet for me is the weak point on this watch and the mix matched lume (general pet hate)

Me too, back when I got into watches, roughly 13yrs ago, I remember really wanting the steel bezel Aquaracer & black with orange numeral F1, was close to buying both at one point.

Instead purchased a U Boat as likes the big watch fiasco, stupidly for a major birthday in NYC, U Boat was sold a few years back, always regret not getting something more civilised (if that makes senses) Aquaracer or Omega SMP, as I expect they would be kept

Is the lack of micro adjust designed to be a differentiator of the 43mm? It doesn’t make a lot of sense to me, they are wildly different watches that appeal to different buyers (ones with taste, and ones that like a hideous blend of non-sensical polygons).

I’m looking forward to trying on the 40mm, the more I rotate my collection, the more I decide that ‘40ish’ is the sweet spot. I love my 43mm night diver, but a lot of the time it feels a touch too big, whereas the BB58 and 41mm way AR are just right (particularly the BB obviously).
