And this clearly shows how silly any non-Connected dial looks on the Connected.
😁
It never looks silly, because it’s the TAG Heuer smartwatch! 😉
And since it's smart, you can choose a different dial every day, with a different Modular combination (in addition to receiving all the notifications on the screen), which is not silly at all, it’s useful and fun 👍

It’s the same font as in the vintage Autavia

Not quite, look at the '4'. The new one has a 'Gothic' curve to it that the original doesn't.

It's not silly, but it's not a real watch either, is it Albert. Come on now, you have proper watches, surely even you can see the difference.😉

So, for you this is not a real or proper phone:

and a real and proper phone is something like this 😉

Come on. We are in the 21th Century! 😁

Of course a fully digital screen watch (Connected or not, because we could include here the Micrograph/Microtimer, Chronosplit, Kentucky LCD...) is very different from a mechanical watch, but both are real, and both are proper, mostly if we talk about TAG Heuer/Heuer watches 😉. They are just two different kind of watches, and we can own and enjoy both 👍

Correct, that is not a phone - its only purpose is to waste hours everyday playing Real Racing.😁

You see Albert, what you're missing is, the red phone has a soul, it's like a living thing, whereas the iPhone is cold and dead and horrible.

Actually I think that Smartphones are horrible, because people get addicted to them and throw tantrums if they have to put them down for 5 minutes!

If you ask me, the Connected dial (while clearly digital) still looks like it has more depth than the Fujiwara.

The more I see of the Fujiwara the more I think its design is surpassed by microbrands at 1/6th the price or less.

Yeah, the latest live shot doesn't do the watch any favors. It doesn't seem that photogenic and I wonder if it looks better in person. When I compare it to the original Viceroy or the latest re-edition, I think I'd pick either one over the Fujiwara. But I'd still like to see one in person.

Well I know what my choice is -

(from the last time I tried one on at a retailer)

Might not be what you expect, but I've come to find that I personally don't quite get along with the cushion-case Autavia unless it's a Siffert. So the original Viceroy's not quite for me, as attractive as it is.

I was opposed to the new one at first, because I thought it was silly, but I've since come to think that aside from the Cal.11 Siffert LE, it's the best of the new Autavias. Works very very well as a 2-register IMO. So I'm keeping an eye out for one at the right price 😉

bit of a sweeping statement but I get your point. They have certainly made me poorer since I found this place! I’d have never been drawn into this world of crazy obsession back in the days of the rotary dial. 😁

This looks like a Connected watchface rather than an actual watch.
Yes, the flat black dial with no circular patterning or depth on the sub-dials AND the big empty dial gives it a sort of flat look

Just talking about phones, not smart watches 😉 (I'm not into the latter at all but not opposed if that's your thing)

Not my thing at all either (smart watches). I think you missed my point about smart phones.

My point was - without mobile accessible watch geek forums I’d have saved a fortune!

So I blame the smart phone’s invention! Without which I’d very unlikely have found this forum.

As for smart watches. I know nothing about them. But the tag one does look like an appealing hybrid if that’s your thing. The variation of accessories is appealing. It’d be cool if they did more of of that in the mechanical world. As for more beeping comma gadgets. Not something I need.

Ohhh got you. I tend not to use my phone for things other than communication (or IG scrolling occasionally) unless I'm not near my computer.

Me too, (well not FB or IG) I get a text from a friend I just phone them back, my ‘coos tits’ fingers were designed for nuts and bolts not wee buttons, one call - one discussion, job done.
I buy my watch because I like the look, not because I can make it look? like another watch, maybe I’m a dinosaur or Luddite?
